TDKR: Christian Bale Confirms He MIGHT Be Tempted Back For A Fourth Batman Movie

Bale has mentioned this before, but now he makes it very clear that even though this is the last go-round for he and Chris Nolan, he would be willing to return if the story was right. Seems to put an end to the "Does Batman die in the end?" speculation anyway..

You have to admit, things didn't look too good for The Caped Crusader in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. Even disregarding what he is up against in the story, comments from Nolan, Bale and co - as well as various other hints and clues from sources - have suggested that ol Bats may not make it to the very end of the movie. There is also the following Tweet from UK film maker Danny Allen which I found interesting - "THE DARK KNIGHT RISES has been reducing test screening audiences to tears.... if it matches the truly haunting trailer I don't blame them.". Tears usually means someone dies right? Well, while I have no doubt in my mind that SOMEONE we care about will buy the farm in the movie, the following quotes from Christian Bale definitely suggest that it won't be Bruce Wayne..unless Nolan's theoretical "next story" saw him return as a ghost..

"My understanding is that this is the last one. I think it's appropriate, I think it's going out at the right time. But...if Chris came to me with a script and said, 'You know what? There is another story' then I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work."

Also, when asked about the possibility of coming back "Dark Knight Returns" style to play the character as a much older man Bale responds - "That could be an interesting one, couldn't it? Twenty years down the track...". So while this doesn't rule out Batman's demise entirely (Bale may just be playing the game here) it certainly serves as strong evidence against it. Rest easy Bat-fans, you may be spared seeing your hero expire on screen yet.

This could very well just be clever ramblings to keep us off of their scent.. I love the Nolan and Co. marketing strategy. Show some, say nothing. #WIN

Perhaps a part of the marketing ?

To put an end to the otherwise rampant speculations - rumor - of BMs death.

Second trilogy: Introduce Tim Drake. Villain: Mr. Freeze (Batman Beyond version). Bale returns as an older, experienced Batman training Tim as his ward.

God you lot are a bunch of dweebs!

Save your money and don't bother watching this if you don't like this version of Batman.

We get it already Nolan's an asshole, Bale's got a crap voice and Bane is too small!

Why do you have to keep bleating the same crap on every thread.

@ teabag

i would like at least a five year break without another batman film, but warner won't do that they'll be rebooting him within two years.

i wonder if the batman reboot will get as much hate as when they said they were rebooting spider-man only five years after spider-man 3.

That does pretty much confirm Bats doesn't die. And I wouldn't mind a return to this version of Batman. But am looking forward to a reboot, just to see what the next version of Bats is.

I find it funny how people talk shit on the batman voice when clearly Alfred describes Bruce growling his words out (in "blind justice" if I remember correctly) without even noticing in a conversations they have, insinuating that bruce is losing the distinction between Wayne and the bat. Y'all complaining don't read the comics, if anything, Conroy doesn't know how Batman should sound, even though his voice is iconic, you could totally tell his Bruce is batman. Ben had a good idea too.

So please, with much respect: stfu already.

Batman's voice as described by Alfred is a growl.
Bale's done his research.

@ Scabsallover I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. Kevin Conroy voice work on Batman is legendary.

I just hate the bulky rubber costume. Batman couldn't even turn his head in the previous 5 out of 6 movies. It looks stupid and current super hero flix (spiderman, first class, etc etc) have shown us it doesn't have to be that way. That's my only gripe.
marvel72
marvel72 - 5/29/2012, 5:10 AM
why would anyone want more of this?

MisterBabadook
MisterBabadook - 5/29/2012, 5:11 AM
@Teabag
That's completely reasonable logic. No hate, just tired of it. Spiderman was the same way. Especially a new origin.
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 5/29/2012, 5:13 AM
I think some people hate Nolan so much that they will embrace the reboot just to say it's better. Just like the Spider-man reboot and the Raimi/Tobey hate.

That shit could look like this and be successful.

RealGothamite
RealGothamite - 5/29/2012, 5:14 AM
@Marvel72 I guess the millions of people across the globe that saw the first 2 films would probably disagree.

Save your cash and go watch The Avengers, saves whoever would have to sit next you in the theatre your bitchin.

"THE DARK KNIGHT RISES has been reducing test screening audiences to tears...."

Does that necessarily mean it's good? Reduced to tears because of how bad it is? Reduced to tears in how boring it is? Hell, you can be reduced to tears if something is funny enough. lol.

That said, since we know that's not what the tweet meant, I'll take it as a good sign. :)
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 5/29/2012, 5:20 AM
Three Nolan films are more than enough. And this would mean Batman doesn't die. Unless there is [frick]ery about.
Unionjack
Unionjack - 5/29/2012, 5:21 AM
Makes you laugh, some people on here just seem to hate on the movies, but always have to comment!!

And for all those wanting a reboot, you do realise that the Nolan team will be producing this and the further superman movies!!!
muzillu
muzillu - 5/29/2012, 5:22 AM
those who are dissing the Nolan franchise and saying stuff like 'can't wait for the reboot' are absolute idiots. Nolan turned the dead Batman franchise into one of the best selling franchises of all time. Seriously, watch DKR before criticising - I'm ready to bet the reboot will be utter crap.
Unionjack
Unionjack - 5/29/2012, 5:25 AM
@Ocean i don't think he will die, i think it will either go the way of The Dark Knight Returns, with a bit of Batman Inc thrown in. More likely though, it will be similar to Iron Man's ending, with him revealing himself to the world and hence the end of the legend Batman, but not Bruce Wayne
marvel72
marvel72 - 5/29/2012, 5:28 AM
@ RealGothamite

i've never said any of nolan's batman films suck both were good & i'm sure the third one will be.

i just don't like bale's voice, the look of bane,i believe anne hathaway is a bad casting choice & the trailers & tv spots for the dark knight rises are borderline boring.

if that makes me a hater then i guess i'm a hater.

also i've seen the avengers, next stop prometheus.
RealGothamite
RealGothamite - 5/29/2012, 5:30 AM
@Marvel72 So out of all the main characters of the film, you don't like any of them???

So as I said previously save your cash dude, and good choice on Prometheus.
