Before And After: Bane's Voice In THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Before And After: Bane's Voice In THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Remember when Christopher Nolan said that he wouldn't be re-dubbing the character's dialogue after complaints that it was indecipherable? Yeah, he totally did. Have a listen to the audio from the IMAX prologue compared and contrasted with that of the theatrical cut..

He can be a funny one that Christopher Nolan. When quite a few fans complained that some of Bane's dialogue was hard to make out in the IMAX prologue of The Dark Knight Rises which screened in front of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, the director insisted no changes would be made. Well, as anyone who caught both the original prologue and then the one from the finished film can attest to, there were definitely alterations -- in fact, all but one of the villain's lines were re-dubbed. Have a listen..

I liked the Theatrical Cut dub. While not as menacing, it was a lot more exciting and easier to understand.

I see I am only one of few people who actually prefers the final voice :O
The original just sounds too artificial and somewhat robotic but the final version has more emotion and you can tell what words he wants to emphasise, which makes the Bane sound way more menacing.

I like the redubb, although the old one did sound menacing, I couldn't understand it at all.

Actually Bane was my FAVORITE...FAVORITE part of this movie. Although at first i thought i wouldn't liek him.

JUST as I was at the point of saying oh man this guy is great! NOLAN had to make him into a henchmen/bodygaurd/PAWN to talia!!

Ruined it for me, it took away from how BOSS Bane was from the get go. Then he freaking cried people....he cried..why Nolan why lol

wheerrrrtiggerman!!!

It was a bit distracting. I actually laughed out loud the first time I heard it because (as I told my sister) he sounds like a drunk Sean Connery.

I didn't mind the original, but I guess they had to clear it up a bit. I LOVED his voice though, so strange and just..creepy at times. When he's talking to Bruce in the prison and he says.."Yes..but not of your body (pause) of your soul"..my favorite Bane moment. What Hardy does with his eyes there is class.

yea if stupid ppl wouldn't have complained we would have gotten the 1st voice.Which was better IMO.The movie 1 sounded tweaked 2 a higher pitch.I also noticed how when Bane says (in the prologue): "We have 2 find out what he told u bout us" in the movie they cut out the "bout us" part which I think should have stayed.Either way

Bane = Villain Of The [frick]ing Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s hands the [frick] down!! XD

The Prologue version, although slightly less clear, is definitely more evil and intimidating.

The Final Film version seems like it was re-dubbed not only to make it clearer and to rid the film of criticism, but also to make Bane sound more intelligent.

It is clear the majority of lines have not only been greatly edited, but have been replaced with completely new/different recordings.

They needed to find a middle ground between the clarity of the final film's version and the menacing nature of the original prologue's.

You're all kidding, right? Went the prologue came out all the fanboys were raging because they couldn't understand a single word Bane said. Now the fixed it and everyone's like "Nah, the old voice was coller"

@BizzarroNumber1: My point exactly so many plot gaps, and the story developed like it was rushed or alot of the movie was cut out.It such a boring movie to me everything but the last 5 minutes.Plus the miraculous come back from a broken back...wth. And how could Bruce Wayne of all people stay out of crime fighting for 8 years considering he is such an obsessive person i can't imagine Bruce getting out of shape like that!
