Are These The Directors Being Looked At For JUSTICE LEAGUE?

Remember how quick we were to dismiss that Brett Ratner rumor from yesterday? Well, it may not have been just a rumor - and there may be worse to come! A couple of the names I could live with, but I just have one word - McG. Read on, if you dare..

Peter Georgiou of Thinkmcflythink Tweeted yesterday that he had heard some more names that were on Warner Bros'. radar to direct their big-screen Justice League movie - and he didn't sound very positive about it. Now he has revealed a few of those names. Affleck and The Watchowskis we knew about, and Ratner was rumored yesterday, according to Georgiou was can add Zack Snyder (Man Of Steel), Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and...McG to the list. I shuddered just typing that..

Georgiou also Tweeted that they had heard about 8 names in total, and that other sites may be revealing a few more shortly. Now remember, even if these directors are being considered to helm the movie by WB, it doesn't necessarily mean any of them will, or that they have even been approached - yet. But it would certainly be very worrying if WB were to even think a bout putting someone like Ratner or McG anywhere near this movie in my opinion. So, what do you guys make of this?

I'd be okay with Snyder and Affleck (even though the latter has already passed). Wachowskis and Fleischer could go ether way. McG and Brett Ratner? Hell no.

If i had to choose from those i say Snyder or Fleischer. Fleischer is behind of that Gangster Squad movie too.

Snyder I would be fine with, as long as they hired a great writer(s). (Bruce Timm/David Goyer)

You can't just throw a bunch of crap together and hope to replicate Marvel Studios success.

This looks like an epic mess in the making.

My vote of these would easily be Snyder, but i think either David Yates or Peter Jackson should be the ones to handle it

If we get McG or Ratner every bit of Marvelite trash talk will be warranted.

I seriously just don't understand why Brad Bird is so hard to come up with.

I mean he's beyond ideal. Even more so than Whedon I'd say

Ya Batman gets to much love from DC. They have other great charachters that deserve justice. Superman is finally getting his next year. Next hopefully Wonder Woman or Flash.
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 8/29/2012, 6:21 AM
Think about it though. Both Yates and Jackson have experince with high profle (aka high pressure) franchises, adapting source material for which the fans are damn near rabid, large scale ensemble films, and areproven (with the exception of King Kong which i personally loved) with both critics and the box office. I mean cmon

Mrcool210 - 8/29/2012, 6:24 AM
@Just1Superguy but wasnt the point of avengers for everyone to play a vital role? if GL and flash are sort of background characters then this wont be as sucessfull. especially after how much money green lantern made

PsyGuy - 8/29/2012, 6:24 AM
McG has done some great TV shows, but.... no.

Wachowskis hopefully wouldn't make it too dark...

Snyder YES.

NO TO RATNER. NO, NO, NO.
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 8/29/2012, 6:26 AM
@Ha1frican yeah I agree with Jackson, that's who's been my choice. Yates, I haven't really thought about him doing it, but you're right, he has been able to handle the pressure and adapt the source material to a movie. He would be fine I think. Better than some of these choices on here.
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 8/29/2012, 6:26 AM
@Just1Superguy i disagree i think despite being the most recognisable of basically any heroes (other tha spiderman) i think they DO need solo films. While many know who they are i guarantee you very few people off the sreet could tell you where WW comes from. Batman could easily slide i think but Supes needs a new approach and you cant tackle that in an ensemble film or it gets to cluttered. Look at Avengers there was little room for exposition and almost EVERY chaacter had already been established. For this to work there needs to be no distractions during a JL films and as much of the DCU as possible needs to be set up ahead of time.

I did kinda enjoy Terminator Salvation, but I think that was despite McG being behind the camera. He's a studio yes-man, and a barely competent director imo. If we were talking about some other single character then MAYBE I'd be more inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt, but JL? Not a hope. If he's hired I will ...be angry about it:)

Wachowski's or Snyder, not familiar with Fleisher, Ratner and McG are jokes.
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 8/29/2012, 6:28 AM
If it's Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash and Green Lantern (and either Cyborg, Aquaman, or Martian Manhunter) I don't think any of them will be "minor" characters. They're all major characters. Everyone who isn't the big 3 will be the lesser known, but that doesn't mean their role will be minor.

SuperPickle - 8/29/2012, 6:29 AM
Jackson or Snyder would be great. But shouldn't Snyder stay focused on the Superman franchise? Obviously, if they intend to create a DC film universe, it would be good to have JL directed in the same style as MOS, but putting him on too many projects might slow down development too much. Marvel has been able to spread the workload out and maintain consistency. WB should take the hint. I mean, look how spaced out the Dark Knight movies were, wouldn't we want to see at least one DC project per year? Snyder at the helm on two of the titles would make a JL movie every four years or so. Cutting it close to say the least.

6of13 - 8/29/2012, 6:29 AM
Brad Bird FTW

What is completely worrying is that despite WB's eagerness to make a JL movie, there does not seem to be any kind of plan. If they want to compete with Marvel Studios, they cannot just take their DC cinematic universe (DCCU) one movie at a time. I cannot understand what is so difficult in creating a plan that takes into account individual characters and how the DCCU is connected. It seem as if they are trying to replicate The Avengers "cake" but without all the ingredients and layers needed.
SuperPickle
SuperPickle - 8/29/2012, 6:30 AM
Regardless, they need to get rolling on Flash and Wonder Woman first, not to mention the Batman reboot. Maybe even a new GL movie beforehand.
SuperPickle
SuperPickle - 8/29/2012, 6:32 AM
I'm sure there's a plan. But it's behind closed doors. Bear in mind they know about us ravenous fanboys and all our interwebs banter. Rumors get blown up and leaks get turned into controversies. They could be just keeping it close to the chest.
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 8/29/2012, 6:32 AM
But again i say its alot less important who directs it than who writes it IMO what worked in Avengers wasnt some "Artistic Vision" that Joss hadit was tha he was a brilliant writer and as director he could make sure his writing made it on screen. The character interaction was the best part of that film and should be the focus of JL. Blowing stuff up (which dont get me wrong was [frick]in awesome in Avengers) can only do so much, its alot better whe you are invested in the characters before hand which is why Avengers >>>>> Transformers
SuperPickle
SuperPickle - 8/29/2012, 6:33 AM
And yes, Brad Bird is a badass. A good friend of mine from high school knows him. She used to work with him at Pixar and has nothing but great things to say about him.
BlackFlash
BlackFlash - 8/29/2012, 6:34 AM
When I was younger the 2 comic book movies I wanted to get made were The Avengers and Justice League, but i'm having a hard time getting excited or even being interested in a JL film at the moment because I know there rushing this because of the success of the Avengers.

As WorldsGreatest said "Batman gets to much love from DC" they need to test the waters a bit more with other JL members before putting this film together, I know they don't want to seem like there copying Marvel by putting out a couple films first and bringing everyone together but they need to take there head out there ass and do just that.

Zack Snyder!!! Make it happen Warner Bros. The dude loves his CBMs, and he respects the source material!

I think we need Nolan to produce this as well, just to keep things in line - well that and because Man of Steel is looking EPIC!!!

Ha1frican - 8/29/2012, 6:35 AM
Also i think they need to swap out Aquaman for Cyborg for 2 reasons
1: Live action aquaman.... yeahhhhh
2: Having a leading (or at least important) Black superhero character is a dynamic that Marvel hasnt touched on yet as part of a team so it would help set it apart from Avengers
