Cate Blanchett On Playing Galadriel Again In THE HOBBIT

Up until now, we hadn't heard too much from the beautiful Aussie actress on reprising the role of the powerful Elf queen in Peter Jackson's new Middle Earth trilogy. In this interview she talks about playing the role again 12 years later..

We have heard from some of the other returning cast members, including Ian McKellen and Elija Wood, but Cate Blanchett has been pretty quiet about returning to Middle Earth as the noble (but kinda scary) Galadriel. But now in an interview with Spanish site Milenio, the actress discusses her feelings on reprising the role. She also seems to confirm that Gladriel will indeed appear in the first installment of The Hobbit trilogy - An Unexpected Journey - due out this December..

Milenio: It’s been 12 years since you played Galadriel. How did it feel going back to that character and that universe?

Cate Blanchett: I’m more mature as an actress; that’s what made me want to play her again. Peter called me and thought I might not accept the role. I told him “Are you kidding me? Of course I will!”

Galadriel is a special character to me, mythic and fascinating. It was as enjoyable to shoot as Lord of the Rings. When I wore the elf ears again, I had this wonderful feeling of dejá vú. I couldn’t stop laughing.

I was very young when I played Galadriel. I hope to have evolved, to be a better actress, person and mother. Professionally I think I’m much more flexible now, and easier to work with. I know Peter thinks so! (laughs) Come Christmas the audience will be able to decide for themselves.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theaters December 14th.

in my opinion, the greatest actress alive. i like her more than judi dench and glenn close and meryl streep.

watch "i'm not there," in which she gives the most amazing portrayal of bob dylan circa 1967.

Indy 4 was such a letdown. I mean, for those who loved the first ones for their simple qualities and comically violent adventures. Now that's just a bunch of clean steril CGI and bad ideas Lucas contributed (as usual).

Great actress though.
