WB Hoping To Give GREMLINS The Reboot Treatment

"Bright light!" I suppose it was only a matter of time before they got around to this, but Vulture report that Warner Bros. are looking to bring Gizmo and his slightly less cute pals back to the big screen. Read on for details..

According to Vulture, Warner Bros. Pictures is negotiating with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment to reboot their 1984 horror comedy, Gremlins. Apparently there have been numerous attempts to get the wheels in motion on this over the years but things always fell through, however, sources claim that this time it's looking good. That's pretty much all the info out there at the moment but we'll update if we find anything else out.

Gremlins was one of my favorite movies as a child and I still love the Hell out of it despite it dating a little around the edges. A less successful - and quite bizarre - sequel followed, and there was always talk of a third movie but nothing ever materialized. There's no doubt that Gizmo is one of the most adorable creatures to ever grace the screen, so I'm not altogether against another movie as long as it stays true to the original. In fact I hope this "reboot" is that in name only and we get some sort of continuation of the story, or at the very least not a complete rehash of the first one. What do you guys think? One reboot too far?

Gremlins doesn't need a reboot, just a non-joke sequel similar to the original. I'm not saying not funny, just not cliche silly jokes that were in the Gremlins 2.

A classic tale of good vs. evil. Kind of disturbing though.

"Gizmo kaka!"

@cipher, Great movie, 'Foul Play'. Don't know if I'd see a remake though. My second-favorite albino movie.

This doesn't surprise me at all... Can't WB just do a sequel? Why does it have to be a reboot?

I loved Gizmo when I was a kid! I bet you Gizmo will be completely CG in this reboot smdh.

At one point, a few years after Gremlins 2, they were planning a TV series. G2 was a brilliant send-up of the original...but the original's tone is probably what they're gonna go for. They're probably use that premise to dig further into the world of the Mogwai, the legend, the rules...it'll be like what MTV did w/Teen Wolf.
