Guillermo Del Toro's "D" Project Is....

Not Deadman, Drood, or Dr. Strange. No, CBM fans, unfortunately for us he was talking about a project with DISNEY! Is nobody safe from the Mouse?

When Del Toro teased us all with that "D" announcement, we all speculated that it must surely be one of two comic related projects he had been linked. Deadman or Dr Strange. Well, we were all wrong:(

Slashfilm is reporting that Del Toro is teaming up with Disney to launch a new animation label called Disney Double Dare You which will “create new animated films full of chills and thrills for audiences of all ages.”

All that is known so far is that Del Toro will produce all films under the label and direct a few, too. This dude really takes on some workloads! The first movie we will see from them is "Trollhunters," which GDT tells Variety is based on an original story he wrote. Additionally, the Double Dare You films will be linked by “one feature that shall remain secret, but that you shall soon be very familiar.”

Disney Chairman Dick Cook had this to say:

Guillermo is a brilliant and visionary filmmaker, and we’re excited to be launching this new label with him. His knowledge and appreciation for Disney films, along with his penchant for creating worlds of fantasy, presented a great opportunity for us to explore a whole new genre of filmmaking for moviegoers of all ages. We have admired Guillermo’s imaginative approach to filmmaking for some time, and now we’re proud to be working with him to create films full of imaginative delights and lots of thrills at the same time.”

Del Toro added, As a director, I love to take audiences into fantastic new worlds and provide them with some anxious moments in the process. It is part of the Disney canon to create thrilling, unforgettable moments and villains in all their classic films. It is my privilege for DDY to continue in this tradition. To partner up with The Walt Disney Studios, with the support of Dick Cook and John Lasseter, is to belong to a storytelling partnership that I admire deeply. It is a true honor. I look forward to coming up with fresh and original stories that will take Disney films in a whole new direction. The emphasis is on fun, and we have some great ideas already on the storyboards.

Dammit! I was really looking forward to deadman or doc strange. Disney is making my life a living hell. First, buying marvel, and now this. I mean, whats their encore? Anally raping my mother while pouring sugar down my gas tank?!

It is all a big conspiracy. Disney's plan is to destroy all hope for any future CBMs. They bought Marvel to destroy that and now are going for the other directors...

They are just creating a new, cheesier "Tales from the Crypt". The link will be the crypt keeper aka permafrost Walt Disney.

I know this isn't comicbook news, but I personaly think this could be quite cool anyways. Everyone loved 'Nightmare Before Christmas', after all. I Can see them being films in this mold.

LEEE is damn right, it doesnt mean he is not doing these movies, it will just mean he wont be doing it for while

And who would you like to see direct Dr Strange, Josh, instead of Guillermo?

In my opinion, I would love to see Guillermo complete the Hellboy trilogy straight after the two Hobbit movies for release in 2013 (30th anniversary of Hellboy's original appearance) or 2014. Then he should make Deadman for release in 2016 and I would actually wait to see Dr Strange be released in 2020 or something so it can be done right because Marvel should really focus on their Avengers saga (Iron Man trilogy, Cap trilogy, Thor trilogy, Hawkeye movie, Black Panther trilogy, Avengers trilogy) and then go and focus on making movies like Dr Strange, Luke Cage etc. when the public are sick of costumed superhero movies because Dr Strange and Luke Cage are street level heroes who technically arent superheroes in costumes

I actually am not disappointed by this, nor surprised; he mentioned that he was doing trollhunters on the hellboy two extended dvd. That it's for disney is new, but it sounds cool to me.
