Jonah Nolan Not Directing?
“Jonah was never offered anything, apparently some fans just imagine he may have the talent that his brother has. The WB has not made an official offer to Jonah, he is involved in the script and future treatments to it.”
This part will disappoint some fans:
“As of now David Goyer has a better shot of landing this gig. While in discussions he noted mistakes made in other movies he has directed, this apparently is not a strike against him. To his credit, the WB believes the experience is actually a positive aspect of hiring him. They like that he has worked in this genre in quite a few capacities, and trust that his time with Nolan has also been well spent.”
I actually agree with that sentiment entirely. Those who do not learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them. Goyer has recognized his mistakes and could potentially learn from them and hit it out of the park. That is a very strong sentiment there and it builds a lot of confidence in Goyer for me.
Christopher Nolan has been elevated to a rare status in Hollywood. Trust.
Its beyond being a fan and appreciating his work. When Nolan says he picks a certain actor, people don’t question it. They assume he has a plan, and that it will all work out. Most other directors, no matter what kind of reputation they have, if they make a questionable decision its Guilty Until Proven Innocent. Nolan inspires something different than that.
His brother, while a gifted writer has no directing experience. Should we hand him over a massive franchise that if done poorly would bury the character for a long time (otherwise known as the Schumaker Syndrome. See Batman) But rumour reports Nolan says he wants him to do it and people say its fine.
If Nolan said Uwe Boll was directing the next Superman, fans would just say “that’s fine” and assume that Nolan had a talk with him or will be watching closely.
