International Operations started "government internship" for gifted youths, taking place in an isolated training facility. Following the manifestation of Caitlin Fairchild's powers, she fled the complex with Roxy Spaulding, Grunge, and Threshold in disguise. They were later joined by Sarah Rainmaker and Burnout. The project was revealed to be a gathering of the gen-active progeny of Team 7.
Threshold tricked the group, sans Fairchild, to return to base to help free the other kids, but upon their return they were apprehended for further testing. With the help of Pitt and John Lynch, the kids finally escaped. The group retreated to La Jolla, California, and officially formed as the group Gen¹³. They opposed IO and their violent counterpart DV8. (Gen¹³ loosely refers to the 13th generation of Americans. Team 7 had been part of a project called Gen 12.)
The team spent a lot of time delving into the past of Team 7 to learn more about themselves. Fairchild and Freefall learned they were half-sisters and Lynch was revealed to be Burnout's father. Also during this time, Freefall and Grunge began to date, while Rainmaker revealed herself to be bisexual.
The team was caught in an explosion of a 6-megaton bomb and believed to be dead. Fairchild was the only survivor and mentored a new Gen¹³ team, effectively taking Lynch's role. However, this team existed in what is later revealed to be an alternate reality which was similar to the mainstream Wildstorm universe except for its point of divergence, the last issue of Volume 2. At the end of volume 3, the rest of the original Gen¹³ team was revealed to be alive and, after a little time-travel to avoid the detonation that 'killed' them, the reunited group returned to the mainstream Wildstorm universe.
Fairchild is the daughter of Alex Fairchild of Team 7. The identity of her mother is unknown and Caitlin has never mentioned her.
When he was forced to go underground to escape International Operations, Alex Fairchild left Caitlin in the care of relatives in Portland, Oregon. Raised by her aunt and uncle alongside her cousin Karen, Caitlin grew into a brilliant, but rather mousy young woman. Her academic skill led to her being accepted to Princeton University where she double-majored in computer science and electrical engineering.

Roxy is the daughter of Team 7 member Alex Fairchild and Gloria Spaulding. The two met when Alex was a soldier, stationed at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Gloria was the daughter of the base commander. Despite her father's dislike of Alex, Gloria and Alex grew close, but soon Alex was called away on another secret mission. Gloria, who had become pregnant, had no way of contacting him. Gloria later married another man and told everyone, including her daughter Roxanne, that the child was merely her stepchild.
Details on Roxy's life before coming to Project: Genesis are sketchy. But a picture of her past can be gleaned from comments Freefall makes over the course of the series.
During a dream sequence Roxy is called "trailer trash" by classmates from her Catholic school. This, along with Roxy's habit of sometimes wearing a crucifix necklace and comments during some conversations confirmed that she was raised a Catholic, though her behavior indicates that she is a lapsed Catholic.
Freefall tends to speak with something of a valley girl accent, hinting that she may have grown up somewhere in Southern California, though she visited her mother when staying in New York City. In Las Vegas Roxy had missed her mother by mere hours at a casino she had been working at.[2] This could be a hint that Gloria Spaulding has a tendency to move often.

Rainmaker is the daughter of Stephen Callahan of Team 7 and half-sister of Matthew & Nicole Callahan (Threshold and Bliss of DV8).
Rainmaker has the ability to control the weather, summoning lightning, wind, and rain with her thoughts. She has also demonstrated the ability to control the movement of water. Rainmaker can fly by riding wind currents, and is able to generate and direct bolts of lightning from her hands. These bolts are enhanced somewhat by the hi-tech gauntlets she wears.
Sarah also has a natural aptitude for combat tactics.

Philip Chang sent his son into hiding while he was still an infant. Born in Hong Kong but raised in Seattle, Percival Edmund soon became known as "Grunge",
Powers and Abilities: Grunge's foremost ability is his "sponging". Previously (before the Worldstorm soft-reboot), his powers were limited to taking on the characteristics of an object he touched (if he touched rock, he would become as hard as rock and gain super strength). In his latest, post-reboot appearances, the scope of Grunge's powers have widened. Now he is able to gain the superpowers of another super being for a short while. He has temporarily gained the wings of the Authori-teen's Nestling, the super strength and flight of the Authority's Apollo, and the super strength or Caitlin Fairchild. Incidentally, he also took on Fairchild's Gen-based breasts.
In addition to his superpowers, Grunge is a skilled martial artist, has incredible intelligence, and a photographic memory.

Bobby Lane is the son of John Lynch who was a superpowered special ops member of Team 7. For decades the I.O. organization had been carrying out genetic experiments designed to create super soldiers for the government. Team 7 were among the 12th generation of this experiment (Gen 12), and among the first successes - previous attempts had ended in death for the subjects. When many of the members of Gen 12 became fathers, I.O. became interested in their children: Gen 13. According to the Gen 12 series, Lynch's wife left John Lynch when their son, Robert, was very small.
The exact circumstances of his mother's death are unknown, but Bobby was put up for adoption under a fake name. (It was later revealed that several Team 7 members who had gone into hiding themselves knew about this and arranged this to protect Robert from I.O.) During his childhood Bobby often changed foster families, because he was unable to fit in with them, though he became good friends with his foster sister Han Tsung during his stay with her family.

I.O. was originally a branch of the CIA but became it's own agency after Director Miles Craven took control. I.O. is responsible for Team 1, Team 7, Deathblow, Gen13, DV8 and many other Image and Wildstorm groups and characters. The most well known agent of the organization is John Lynch.
Charles better know from his role in television role called v role of Kyle Hobbes in the ABC sci-fi series "V" about aliens on Earth. In a casting notice from ABC in early January, Hobbes, then without the "e", is described thus: HOBBS: Male in his 30s or 40s. Possesses an enduring strength and intelligence. A mercenary. A weapons expert and a bomb maker. Will join the resistance. Recurring character. Charles Mesure played a mercenary on "Without a Trace" and has also used weapons in at least four cop roles, most recently on "Outrageous Fortune" in New Zealand. The "enduring strength and intelligence" description seems just right for him.

An extremely powerful psychokinetic, Threshold is very fond of using his powers to make people's heads explode, and in other destructive ways. He also has displayed the ability to fly and read the minds of others. Apart from his powerful superhuman abilities, Threshold is also an expert in martial arts, though his tendency to use his powers to kill anybody who humiliated him during training limited his growth as a martial artist.

Ivana Baiul was the head of Sci-Tech, the scientific division of I.O. Ivana is a cyborg who has replaced much, if not all of her body with synthetic parts. The extent and degree of her cybernetic modification is unknown. Her cybernetic parts give her superhuman strength, speed, and stamina. In Stormwatch: Team Achilles, it was revealed that she no longer stores her brain or consciousness in her head, and cannot be killed by a shot which penetrates her skull.
Aside from these abilities, Ivana's body appears to perfectly mimic a human body in every way. She has no trouble passing for human, and has maintained sexual affairs with some of her subordinates.
