I have mixed feelings on the ending. Part of me wishes that Kirk had stayed dead until ST3, but then there would have been the grumblings from fans about how Abrams and co. had shamelessly cribbed the ending from just about every middle movie since EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

But then, everything up to the end had been shamelessly (but lovingly) cribbed from ST:TWoK already, so why not go all the way?

Just points up the the laziness of the writers of this star dreck, especially Roberto Orci. The arrogance of Orci is galaxy spanning. When criticized in another forum, he told the person criticizing him that 'that's why he is a writer and you aren't."
I have no idea who he is holding hostage to get all of these writing jobs, he's next on course to wreck Spider Man. He writes with the attitude of 'let's appeal to the most common denominator', which is why he'll never get so much a whiff of any awards and make tons of money from the great unwashed masses.

@Godzillafart- Abrams was not being serious in that interview. He will drown Star Wars in the bathtub with overused lens flares.

Yeah, I was shocked how many people enjoyed this film. Nothing makes sense in this story from scene to scene. Not one moment stands up to any kind of scrutiny. Sadly, the same can be said for the other early-summer blockbusters IM3 and MoS,
