Anthony Daniels Teases C-3PO’s Return In STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

Out of all the original and/or prequel trilogy cast members rumored to return in the seventh Star Wars installment, one could argue that the most reasonable choice to come back is C-3PO – since the protocol droid ought to still be functioning when Episode VII begins.

The Question is, will Anthony Daniels reprise as the golden-plated robot (fluent in “over six million forms of communication”) in Episode VII? Well, here is what the actor said at his spotlight panel at NYCC 2013, as reported by Film Buff Online.

"Walls have ears. And we know what they look like. They're very big ears…the man inside the C-3P0 costume stated as to why he wouldn't be speaking at all about the impending sequel while at the same time pantomiming a set of Mickey Mouse ears… However, towards the end of the panel, Daniels was asked about being the only actor who appeared in all six episodes of the franchise and maybe seven?"

Yes, I am the only actor to be in all seven because I feel - Daniels replied before catching himself. "Six! Whatever." He then went on to pantomime a call back to his "big ears" comment.

So do you want to see C-3PO return in Episode VII? Or would you rather that the film introduce new droid sidekicks to go along with a new generation of heroes?

OH MY! (Pun intended)

Did I make first?..

Of course he is coming back..why wouldn't he? That's like saying that there's gonna be a lightsaber in the movie or a spaceship.

[frick] C3PO...no more comic relief characters PLEASE! Episodes I to III were all about comic relief...like that scene when the funniest character in the prequels(Anakin) got burned by the second funniest character from the prequels(Obi-Wan) in that volcano.
Hilarious!

that'd be neat to see the same 2 droids throughout the entire series

@SpectacularJoSHFest The original had more humor than the prequels.

When the prequels tried to be funny, it was just...dry.
I don't mind having C-3PO in the movie. But I would like a new droid to show, maybe one similar to HK47 from the KOTOR games.

You have to have Threepio and R2D2. You have to. Yes Threepio is a whiny annoying character of Jar Jar proportion but he is an absolute must. Plus, don't you want to watch him die??

Tony for 7, 8 and 9. Three generations of Skywalkers. He needs to be in the entire saga, him and Kenny (R2-D2).

New droid sidekicks? That sounds like the worst idea ever. They're the only constant in the series.

What the H*ll kind of question is that? Sometimes it's like the Tea Party around here. Questioning simple logic.

Of course 3po and R2 should be in it. Of course John Williams must do the score.

Geez

Threepio and Artoo are still active and kickin' in the EU novels, so this makes me happy and relieved that they're gonna come back for the new movies too :)

No more campy slapstick fool characters like Jar-Jar... PLEASE.

Any luck we'll see them kill off Jar-Jar in Rebels? Puhleeeeese?

Ok yes of course this is somewhat exciting, but I am really looking for some entirely NEW things from these films. And if we're being honest, then I gotta day that both 3-PO & R2-D2 were embarrassingly annoying in the prequels. So regardless of the fact that Lucas is no longer at the helm, I'm completely underwhelmed by this announcement.

I really hope the droids get their memories back in Ep IIV.

He'd better be back, it's just not Star Wars without R2D2 and C3PO, they're the two constants in that universe/series. Seriously, I don't if the heroes are old or new, same with the villains (although Darth Vader is nigh-irreplaceable), just as long as R2D2 and C3PO are along for the ride.

I don't remember where, but I read once that Lucas intended the films to be about C-3PO and R2D2's role in everything. So yes, I'd like to see him return. It wouldn't be Star Wars without them.
