Is this a cash grab?

Yes.

But you can't [frick]ing tell me with Brian Azzarello writing and Andy Kubert drawing with Klaus Janson doing the coloring, you aren't [frick]ing excited.

Hopefully Frank had very little input besides saying yes to all of Brian's ideas.

Also we already saw Batman destroy the Master Race thanks to all the PCs that crashed and froze with Arkham Knight. Batman single handely destroyed the master PC race.

@ManCalledSting
It's an eight issue series, with each issue having a 32-page main story, plus an additional 16-page story as well. So that's why the $6 price point. All that info is in the article.

Hate to be a grouch to this site but the comics business is so filled with so much bulls**t and outright nonsense that it's almost hard to ignore.
Example: even taking into account the outrageous anatomy of comics check out the size of Bat's head compared to his arm!
(Now this is approaching Rob Liefeld comic drafting craziness...)
I guess there are no art directors at DC anymore (-or Marvel either. They're just as bad.)

I collected comics from 1960 on. Was in the business for about 5 years. "The Dark Knight Strikes Back" was so bad I ended it right there and then. That piece of shite was it for me. Never bought another comic. And never looked back.

Anyone else here remember the days when the whole point of The Dark Knight Returns was that it was supposed to be the LAST Batman story?

Kinda defeats the point of doing a "final adventure" of an iconic character when you eventually follow it up with two cruddy sequels. All Frank has done with these books is de-value one of his most seminal works.

Why the hell isn't Frank Miller doing the artwork? Anything less doesn't cut it for me.

Wrong DC, literally nobody was asking for this.

They should've made this straight into a movie, and then into a book.
Kinda like the opposite of the Fight Club sequel.

At least Instagram will love it.

I feel like this could be great but, it could also suck hard. But it would never undo the legend that is The Dark Knight Returns.

I read this press release to find out what the book was about and all I found out was how many copies we're being asked to buy.

This is a book by Brian Azzarello and Andy Kubert with inks by original series inker Klaus Janson.
This is not Frank Miller.
This is not Dark Knight III.

I don't actually mind that we're getting a book set in the Dark Knight Universe, but the fact that they call it Dark Knight III is insulting to the legacy of the original and it's underrated sequel.

Just call it Dark Knight: Master Race, already. It's not a Dark Knight book unless it's written and drawn by Frank Miller.

He's either too ill to fully realise what's going on or he's selling out big time, because I know that he thinks this way, too.
What's next, Geoff Johns and Dan Jurgens' Sin City?!

@DukeAcureds

Frank Miler and Azzarello are working together on the writing side with Miller also drawing select pages of the story.

ekrolo2@ Sure he is. They wouldn't be able to sell this as the third Dark Knight book, without his name on there, somewhere.
But really, if you think this isn't Azzarello writing the whole thing, with the occasional nod from Frank, then you're nuts. Why the hell would Azzarello need anyone to help him write a comic book? He's a perfectly capable hack. He can do it all by himself. And aside from squeezing a line of dialogue or two outta a barely breathing Frank, he will.

@DukeAcureds

Azzarello is doing the actual, physical writing yes because Miller himself obviously can't. But you're the one being nuts if you think Miller has next to no involvement in this. Even if he can't write any of it himself it certainly wouldn't stop him from sharing his ideas with Azzarello and the two working to bring that vision of his to life.

Even refining it so it comes out in a state where people will like it as opposed to everything post-Year One Millers written. That's what co-writing and collaboration between writers is, two or more creative guys working together to bring an idea to form.

I see where you're coming from.
Me? I like actual Frank Miller, popular or not. DK2, All Star Batman & Robin, the works.
And there are two things that have always been full-on Frank (for those of us that like that); Sin City and Dark Knight.
This is not full-on Frank. So it's not Dark Knight III. Even if it says it is.
If Frank were in his right mind he would never let this happen. Maybe he's just gone crooked.
