Have the delays really been that long? The way this event was advertised before it began, I hadn't expected it to end any earlier than November/ early December.

"Marvel will publish a new "Secret Wars" by writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Esad Ribic as A YEAR-LONG EVENT starting in May 2015."
-http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=56160

It was advertised as a YEAR-LONG EVENT a year ago. So why are people surprised it's still running and why are they complaining on something Marvel already said was going to be going on for at least this long?

Although, I can understand people are anxious to read the next issue.

I mean, even the official event page on Marvel.com says it runs from May to December. And that is with the extended 9th issue they added to end the series.

@ScionStorm
The delays are considered long because the planned last issue (which was issue #8) was solicited to be released next week. That means, with the extra issue, they're now three issues behind, and every few weeks the last few issues have been delayed longer and longer.

I'm just not liking how the prolonging of Secret Wars and the tie-ins is coming into conflict with the new titles coming out. But really, as long as they don't switch artists or something I'm good. That shit bugs the hell out of me.

8th Dynasty@ It's all kinds of awesome. If you love Marvel comics at all, then it is essential reading.
Basically something called a Final Incursion happened (Hickman pseudo-science psychobabble, don't ask)and the whole Marvel Multiverse collapsed in on itself, including 616 and Ultimate Marvel. All that remains is Battleworld. A reality that 616 Doctor Doom (along with help from Dr. Strange and Molecule Man) created out of the wreckage of the multiverse. So it is a world populated by myriad versions of Marvel comics and Doom is their king and their god.
There were also two liferaft arks that survived the multiverse. One has evil Reed Richards from the Ultimate world along with a bunch of baddies and the other has good Reed from 616 along with a bunch of goodies. Now they're all scattered around Battleworld and Doom is looking for them.

On a side note, does that Starlord variant mark the first time that pubes have ever made an appearance on a Marvel cover?

Lol, heavy delays. i thought it had finished and i totally forgot to pick up the rest of the issues. All will be forgiven if it's good though.

@DukeAcureds, someone needs to establish ground rules as to when normal bodyhair becomes pubes.

leethario@ You're right. I have a straight line of hair leading down from my bellybutton to my pubes. It's like an arrow pointing to the good stuff. But I wouldn't call that line 'pubes'.
I guess if it's part of that upside-down triangle and it's below the hips, it's pubic. As it is with Starlord, here.

This does seem pretty rad. I liked the pairing of these versions of Dr Strange and Doom from the earlier previews.

That Starlord cover rocks.
