Its has been a while since The Joker last showed up in Detective Comics #1 of the New 52. But now the Clown Prince of Crime is comming back with a vengeance in Batman: Death of the Family.

Batman Artist Greg Capullo gave us some details on whats up with the Joker's return and what has he and is partner, writer Scott Snyder set up for the readers.

Greg wrote on his Twitter account

In my younger days, I’d have punched several holes in the walls of my office by now. Rest assured, I will give you terror when I draw him

When I draw it, THAT will be it

Try not to look at it. Wait for ours if you can

The more I’ve thought about the Joker leak, the more I began thinking that it may have been for the best. The fact is, the way Scott and I.. will give you the Joker may have been too much for some with out this diluted sample hitting the web. DC, rightly so, had concerns about- Our images and story. Perhaps they leaked this intentionally to test the waters or to acclimate your minds to what is coming from us.

Team Batman knows how to do one thing. Destroy. So, even if you do see the leak, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Trust me

I’m still not going to reveal my sketches. I won’t let this incident blow the whole works. Be patient. Terror is heading your way

Batman: Death Of The Family will be relased on november 2012

Don't punch holes in the wall Greg. It's not healthy and it ruins your walls.

I'm all for change and different interpretations... but is anyone else disappointed by this? Sure, they're comics and knowing DC, with some ridiculous Crisis event everything can turn back to normal. But seeing such a classic character go through such a dramatic change.... I don't know. Complain all you want about Superman. He removed his trunks and has a collar on his suit now. Big whoop. The Joker doesn't have his [frick]ing face. Yeah, that's cause for concern. I'm looking forward to what Capullo and Snyder dish out though. They've been beyond fantastic so far. Just don't let your "genius" take you down the rabbit hole with Frank Miller and George Lucas.

Why is Batgirl wearing latex to fight crime? No wonder Joker stabbed her.

Hitting walls when your drawings aren't looking how you want...Yep, I know that, only I don't hit walls, I just go on my laptop...which I start yelling at cuz it so slooooow... What is it about darwing & electronics that causes you to Hulk out?

He's referring to punching walls out of anger that they revealed the Detective Comics cover showing the redesign, not drawings or drawing ability. The Batman team have been keeping the redesign a secret. They didn't want to reveal it until October. This article should have been handled better because he said that before the punching walls comment. DC just reveled this cover unbeknownst to Capullo and the rest of the team.
@VicSage
Removing the face was Tony Daniel's idea. Snyder left that completely up to him. There were several directions they were going to go, Daniel ended up choosing that one. For all of them though, Snyder had a story built around them.
