Godzilla is a 2014 American science fiction monster film directed by Gareth Edwards. It is a reboot of the Godzilla film franchise and retells the origins of Godzilla in contemporary times as a "terrifying force of nature". The film is set in the present day, fifteen years after the unearthing of two chrysalises in a mine in the Philippines. From the pods come two giant radiation-eating creatures, known as "MUTOs", which cause great damage in Japan, Hawaii and the western United States. Their awakening also stirs a much larger, destructive, ancient alpha predator known as "Godzilla", whose existence has been kept secret by the U.S. government since 1954. It stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, and Bryan Cranston. The screenplay is credited to Max Borenstein but includes contributions from David Callaham, David S. Goyer, Drew Pearce, and Frank Darabont.

Noice! Loved the movie, better eight minutes of Godzilla kicking ass, than a hour of him doing nothing.

Damn! If King Ghidorah actually looks like that in the Godzilla sequel, then I'll be one happy camper!

More like bullshit. I'm so glad this movie wasn't just nonstop violence and destruction for two hours. That would get boring quickly. I'll take a more careful, suspenseful approach over an approach where there is nothing but loud noises, incoherent action, and and overlong climaxes any day.

Need I also point out that the Winter Soldier was only in CA:TWS for around 10 minutes?

That bit about creatures digging into the Earth....in Godzilla 2, Rodan should be another creature that dug underground to hibernate. Rodan is just anther prehistoric dinosaur-thing like Godzilla. They shouldn't try to "ground" Ghidorah and Mothra IMO. Ghidorah is from outer space, and Mothra is supernatural and divine. Don't make everything scientific.

@CaptainObvious It's way more than ten minutes. He attempted to assassinate Fury, then was chased by Cap, then was called in by Pearce, then attacked Cap, BW and Falcon at the underpass, then was being repaired, then was in the entire climax. But he honestly should have been in it much more.

Does the movie have some shortcomings? Sure, but I still loved it, and it's still miles better than the 98 abomination. I liked the restrained Jaws approach for Godzilla, and while I would have liked more Cranston instead of Johnson, he wasn't that boring of a character. I think having more of his wife could have helped balance the human narrative better.

Great videos too. I'm positive that people will be much more pleased with the sequels.

The Winter Soldier and GotG were simply amazing, but being a Godzilla fan for most of my life THIS was the movie of the year for me; the unveiling of the atomic breath alone was chill-inducing, one of those cinematic moments I'll never forget like when the Avengers finally assembled onscreen.

Godzilla 2 can't get here fast enough.
