The first official photo of Sam Worthington in Warner Bros. Pictures' Clash of the Titans debuted in Empire magazine and a scan can be viewed below. Opening March 26, 2010, the Louis Leterrier-directed action-adventure also stars Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Danny Huston, Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen, Jason Flemyng, Alexa Davalos, Izabella Miko, Nicholas Hoult and Pete Postlethwaite.

synopsis:

In the film, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

I really hope they don't ruin a classic and try to make this like 300. Don't get me wrong 300 was amazing but I liked Clash the way it was no need to go dark with it.

Keven - Skirts?! I thought gladiators had classic Levi 501s in a stone wash colour?! History is so confusing ;)

droopy1317 - Agreed! I always LOVED Greek Myths in school! I always put more effort into class when that was on the menu!

Where's that wavy Greek mullet that Harry Hamlin pulled off so brilliantly in the original? Oh well. This does look brutal and hopefully will rock, instead of suckling my cobbles. Finger's crossed that Louie learned his lesson after Incredible Hulk and we won't get the PERSEUS SMASH!! edition of C.O.T.T.

They're not going to make this movie dark, it is dark. Devil looking Calibus sneeking in the camp murdering people, 3 headed dog fight, chopping off head of medusa etc... I hope they make this a 3 hour movie. I want it to scare me. long drawn out suspensful edge of the seat shit. Creepy scenes with the boatman, the witches..!!! Hades wasn't in the 1st one, neither were a lot of the new characters listed. This movie needed to be remade with today's technology and added storyline they left out of first one. Don't go 300, but Gladiator feel is more like it. Tell the story and not all action. But good action.

Cant wait. Favorite movie as a kid.

I loved it too..got me into fantasy and sci fi in a big way. I dont think Calibos is going to be the villain in the remake though, i think they are going all out and making him Hades..which doesnt really make much sense since the Gods never really directly got involved..more influenced the characters. And Hades isnt evil anyway, he just rules the underworld, its a dirty job but someones gotta do it!

KIR, do try to see the original, i think youl get it on dvd.

Im not really liking the buzz cut hairdo. Did Perseus invent the electric razor or something? I mean i know its a fantasy film but surely its set in a time when the dudes sported slightly longer barnetts!

Mayor, you took the words outta my mouth. This movie has the potential to be so awesome. The story sets up for what can end up being some of the most memorable movie action scenes ever...i just hope letterier doesnt bog it down with too much action that it loses substance.

also we better not hear anything about a possible hercules cameo in the film, for it just to end up being a smudge in a snowbank on the special edition deleted scenes

A bit too dark, brooding and bloody.

Looks like they’re going for a Troy/300 feel - I hope they don't mess up the concept to much.

Very importsant question here, does anyone have a clue whether or not this film will be rated R because yes I love Greek mythology and DRAMA but But I always like a large portion of Blood, Guts and Decapitations with my order of Epic Greek Mythological Journeys.

Hellmont

I believe they'll go for the PG-13 on this one. Which gives you ample room for blood, guts and decapitation. Here in the US of A we're more concerned with potty mouth than blood and violence. So as long as Perseus isn't dropping F-bombs while chopping of Medusa's head, I think we're straight. (hahah no pun intended ^_^)

Why does everything today have to be (freak)ing dark? I am so sick and gawdam TIRED of that crap! If you HAVE to redo this film for some reason, fine. At least do the original story, which was great. This sounds nothing like the movie I've loved since high school. I wouldn't mind this as much if it was being passed off as a sequel. My only objection then would be like "why now, and not 20 years ago?". Maybe we can at least get a special edition DVD of the original out of this. Now THAT I'll buy, and buy first day it's out.

What's next, a "dark" version of "Never Ending Story"? How about a "dark" remake of "Karate Kid"? "Back to the Dark Future"? A "dark" E.T? Where does this garbage end?
Betty
Betty - 6/2/2009, 2:40 PM
KeepItReal--You've never seen the original? Shame!

Howlett04--Actually, the gladiators wore acid wash levi's with the bottom of the legs tight rolled, a pink "Hobie" surf shirt, and black and white, checkered vans. Oh wait, that was me.

Ror--Yeah! Is this a remake of the original movie or a movie about the Persius myth? And where IS the curly mullet. Nothin' funnier than a curly mullet 'cept maybe a Jheri curl mullet.

Betty
Betty - 6/2/2009, 2:43 PM
BillyBlack-- Look out it's the fuking Kraken!! or Holy shit it's that rotten kunt, Medusa!

I wonder how old some cuss words are? Fuk is pretty new. I wonder if any of the ones we use today were used back in da greek days. Or you know the equivalent of our cuss words.

I don't think cowboys used that word.

And Perseus looks English not Greek here. I could be wrong here.

looks great so far. The Studios are going AS DARK AS ANY GIVEN franchise can get.. except for projects like "Where the wild things are" i suppose.

The words may have been different (mostly in Greek I'd imagine ;) but I think they represent the same concepts. I know the Romans used imagery of big cacks and people doing the hump for graffiti.

Rorschach01

I remember an interview with David Milch where he basically said people did not use those words as much then, but simple curse words like damn and shit were the "cocksucker" of their day. So to keep that same rough feel, in spite of the evolution of the language, he amped up the c-sucker factor.
Betty
Betty - 6/2/2009, 4:47 PM
"amped up the c-sucker factor" I like that.

Useless anecdote #47:
When my dad gets mad he misplaces his cuss words. When I was a kid I couldn't help but to laugh which never made it any better. "Just sit the damn down!" or "What in the ass-hell is going on here?!"

And just for fun, My mom's favorites:
"I'm going to stomp a mud hole in your ass!" and "I'm sick of all this Happy-horse-shit!"

I asked her once where "happy-horse-shit" came from, she squinted her eyes and said, "You dont want to know." I laughed. She scowled.

@ comicb00kguy
as someone already said this IS a dark story. Like many Greek myths it is brutal and to tell it any other way would be terrible. Perhaps your memories of the original have been faded over the years, and been jaded by antiquated affects used, but the original (at the time) wasn't a light hearted adventure flick. The monsters look laughable now, but I'm sure at the time they were the stuff of nightmares which I hope will continue in the new movie.
