Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg recently sat and spoke with Digital Spy, and revealed many, many, many intriguing new details about X-Men: Apocalypse! One of the interesting things they said during the interview, had to do with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, and whether or not they'd recast him in the future. According to their response, Hugh Jackman better stay in shape because Wolverine 3 won't be his last ride! "I do think you would want to figure out how to tell more Wolverine stories. So either we would try to entice Hugh to come back and eat more chicken and work out for a few months, or we would have to figure out a creative way to move forward." He then added, "Honestly, I can’t imagine anybody else playing the part, and there’s not too many characters I can say that for."

Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg was also asked about if Hugh Jackman's Wolverine would make an appearance in "Apocalypse". Their response was as followed: "I can't talk about that." We've heard that a lot, and this would leave many to believe that the Wolverine will make another cameo appearance, as he once did in X-Men: First Class. Despite Hugh Jackman's multiple comments that revealed he's going to play the Wolverine "One last time," Singer and Kinberg just might try to persuade him to return..."One last time".

This is one of the main concerns that I brought up not too long ago when questioning the continuity with these films. Jackman has already appeared in so many X-Men films that it would be a complete oddity to not see him in the role. Even though fans have their gripes with Hugh playing Wolverine audience members are convinced that he's pretty much the only guy they expect to see p,align the character.

Now it appears that they are considering to place Wolverine on the back end to draw away attention from him and focus more on the core X-Mwn members in hopes that audiences will eventually become more satisfied with someone else taking on the role. Hugh has already played Wolverine in Days of Future Past (appearing in not only the past but in the "fixed" future as well) and if The Wolverine 3 is taking inspiration from "Old Man Logan" then it's going to make his departure even more elephant sized when he's playing Logan in a Faaaaaaaaar fetched future (that's even if they decide to go that route.)

If you ask me, I say...

A.) Have a new actor come in and play Wolverine wearing his mask often and eventually reveal what the actor looks like as films go on.

B.) Use Deadpool as the start of a reboot and from within the modern day X-Men and recast all of the major X-Men including Hugh to take less attention off of himself.

This would be my personal favourite approach tbh. Still would want 1-2 movies without Logan in that fresh continuity.

@TheRationalNerd - I'd prefer A. That sounds like a really good idea.

@TheRationalNerd - Yes. that's a very creative and innovative way to reboot the character.

I utterly hate that kind of bullshit, its such limited thinking

Dont get me wrong, I love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. It was one of those times that the casting was NEAR PERFECT. But the way Singer & Kinberg are talking, once Hugh gets too old for the role, the Wolverine character should never be portrayed again, what BULLSHIT!

I always treat a movie based on a book or comic book like James Bond, Sean Connery is the first and the best but the Bonds that followed did their own take on the role which was just as interesting as Sean and kept the character going until today.

If it was left up people like Singer, James Bond would have ended in 1967, Doctor Who would have ended in 1966...bloody Hamlet would never have being portrayed after the 1500s!

For me, the perfect situation when it comes to Wolverine character is, that Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine right to the end of the decade. Then give the character a rest for a few years, bring Wolverine back after they have gotten a chance to make a trilogy with the original X-Men & have him portrayed by a new actor who can do their own thing with the role

Make no mistake, I think Wolverine is the Sean Connery of this franchise, he has offered an amazing and potentially the best take on Wolverine, but it doesnt mean the film portrayals of Wolverine ends with him!

@dancingmonkey08 - What about the simple fact he's never worn his actual costume on film even once. A reboot will fix that.

Or we could just not recast Wolverine for a little while.

I dunno, recast when you have to reboot, it'd be a tad jarring to see a new person play Wolverine yet it's supposed to be the same Wolvie from the previous films.

I would recommend focusing on X-23 or Daken to carry on the mantle.

Let's get X-23 going and make her the new star of the X franchise. She's such an intriguing character. Using her would allow for a revisit to the Weapon Plus program. In doing this, we could fix the way its been showcased thus far. We haven't had the Weapon Plus program displayed correctly, (thanks Xmen Origins Wolverine) although Deadpool may fix that.

@ComicsBornAndBred - I think what your'e syaing is innocent and refreshing. I just want to see Wolverine in a more super-heroic format before changing gears. If Wolverine's last movie is a good send off, I'm behind X-23 all the way.

So you can't imagine anyone else playing him even though he's nothing like the comic version? Geez that's easy, I could think of a few people, ha!

Even though I enjoy Jackman in the role be honest, the whole raping of the character to become a cowboy hero leader has opened the opportunity to cast a shorter actor who plays the crazy Canadian runt. Bryan Singer's films were nothing like the comics or cartoons so he would never get it anyway.

His films are good films but not good X-Men films. Bring in a different talented director to reboot the whole bitch. The rest of the cast has already been recast. Continue the trend!

Definitely gives off a Wolverine vibe and is 5'8". He's 41 though and by the time they reboot he'll be 45 or older. Still a better choice than Scott Eastwood or any other Hugh Jackman clone people keep mentioning.

Everyone is casting actors who are too old or will not commit to a role they'll have to play for almost a decade. The obvious choice is:

Since his father couldn't do it

@BlacktinAmerica - it'd be weird having the same guy play both Dick Grayson and Wolverine at the same time right.

I would be in favor of @therationalnerd 's plan B, start over in present day with new actors playing everyone.
