Green Lantern 2 Domain Re-registered by WB

There is still hope for a Green Lantern sequel, and here's the evidence.

Our Aussie friend Clint over at Moviehole.net has the scoop that GreenLantern2.com was recently re-registered by Warner Brothers last week.

OK, so reserving a website for 10 bucks doesn't guarantee that a movie will be made, but it is evidence that WB hasn't given up on the green franchise--which is good news, right?

Alongside GreenLantern2.com, they also re-purchased Gremlins3.com a domain they’ve owned since 2009, and TheHangover3.com.

So, even if GL2 doesn't happen, at least we know we there is also a chance of seeing Gizmo again, or being treated to yet another drunken bachelor party. Yippie!

Awesome. A sequel has so much potential to improve on the first film, plus I wanna see the Sinestro Corps War.

They'd be stupid to make it. It would make less than a 100 million domestic since the first one wasn't liked.

Make it a requel like TIH, not relating totally to the first but not taking away everything either. And get rid of all the cast except Mark Strong as Sinestro.

Hm interesting. Hopefully if a sequel is made, they've taken note of all the mistakes from part one...

This may be one of those instances where the sequel is wayyyy better than the original (think Wrath of Khan). What the franchise needs is an edge and Sinestro provides that. I would say they also need another director though.

get rid of everyone apart from mark strong,he was born to play sinestro.

They could do it like the new G.I. Joe. Don't discount the first movie since it was essentially the same as the source material story wise but give it a complete visual overhaul and direction. But I'd rather they just start over.

Don't get Ryan Reynolds wet after midnight, you just might get s GL sequel if you do!

I re-watched the movie, and after getting over how much I wanted to like it, realized it was a complete disappointment. I don't necessarily want to see a sequel, but I do want another movie. Keep Ryan Reynolds, because I think if they give him a good script he'll do a great job, and only set a minimal amount of the film on Earth. Blake Lively wouldn't even need to return if most of the film is set in space or on other planets.

NEW DIRECTOR, WETA FOR FX AND UTILIZE MOTION CAP WITH GOOD ACTORS..AND WAY MORE ACTION AND WAY MORE INVENTIVE WAYS AS FAR AS USING THE RING POWER..

Also, use the concept art for the New 52 suit for Green Lantern. The CGI concept was a cool idea, but it didn't work in execution. The constructs need to look less cartoonish. It can be great, it just needs to be done right.

It'd be cool to have sinestro as the main character. I mean even in the comic he's the new GL of our sector. Have it be a dark tale of sinestro learning humility and humanity. That's what's going on in the green lantern comic book series anyway. It's like a serious buddy cop series with him and Hal.

I'd say wait at least five or six years and reboot it. If there is a sequel it will need to be far, far superior to the first to get peoples attention. Personally, I think they should just adapted elements from secret origins and perhaps emerald dawn, have a better well written script/story. As far as actors are concerned the one would unfortunately miss the most would be Mark Strong and Geoffrey Rush, they were heavily under used and I was very disappointed with that.

The villain should've been either Legion, Manhunters, Kenjar Ro or Atrocitus, if not Sinestro. On top of that NEVER USE SONY IMAGEWORKS AGAIN! Weta or ILM are the better companies, Imageworks just didn't cut it. Another thing is that they should take more time to make those visual effect as great as possible.

Mark Strong as Sinestro is probably the only reason I have of why I still want this sequel to happen by now.

Or yes, take the G.I. Joe: Relatiation route...hey, even it's kind of similar. Sinestro is the Snake-Eyes (best bit, supporting character) and Reynolds is the Duke (one of the worst bits, main lead). I don't mind if Reynolds stays, as long as Mark Strong is kept. (Of course with a better handling as well.)

They need to avoid the CG [frick]fest that was the 1st. And people say that about Marvel. Jeez...

AvalonKnight - 12/22/2011, 9:38 AM
Set in space or on Oa, you cant get around the CG. I can live with that. We do need to see less earth and more space. I think its also too early for the yellow ring corps. We need to see The whole GL corps war against some huge army. Have it centered around the relationship between Hal and Sinestro, so if they make a third about Sinestro's fall it will sting even more emotionally.
Jolt17
Jolt17 - 12/22/2011, 9:38 AM
JayOh Exactly my idea, but probably Warner Bros. won't dare to take that route as for now.

And yes...get rid of that Sony ImageWorks. (Or whatever the name.) I believe it was them the reason why the movie cost too much...AND didn't even manage to create CGI visuals that are worth the cost. Shame.

marvel72 What a perfect statement there.

Oh and down HOT WHEELS type constructs, if you want the audience to take it more seriously then be smart about the things that Hal Jordan creates, try not to make it too cheesy. GL's construct can be quite creative and cool, fighter jets make sense, any weapons military or air force related is good, lasers, missiles, force fields, shields, a tank, also lets show how Hal's constructs get better and better the more experience he gains as a green lantern.

I also think WB should skip other year one movies and move to Justice League.

If I were WB I'd promote the shit outta Man of Steel, demand Cavill's cameo in the end of TDKR, then would make a World's Finest movie. Some cameos of other heroes there and voilà, you can have the acceptance for these new franchises. Batman and Superman together would make a loadshit of money and EVERYONE would see it, even those dudes with, i dunno, Gusto's age.

C'mon, regarding your taste it's undeniably working for Marvel.

If they feel compelled to make Year one films for WW, Flash and Martian Manhunter and what have you, then do it as hour long grindhouse features. Honestly for me if those charecters arent in JL i dont care to watch their stuff.
