Aerosmith's Steven Tyler Is Campaigning For A Role In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Vol. 3
Guardians of the Galaxy has a reputation for outside-the-box casting, and now Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has thrown his name in the ring for a role in a future installment of the franchise...
Guardians of the Galaxy remains a very unorthodox franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; the first film succeeded on a strange premise with even stranger characters, and the same applies for some of the actors playing them. With a second installment coming next year, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has now thrown his name in the hat for consideration for a part.
In an interview with People Magazine promoting his new film Happy Birthday, Tyler expressed his enthusiasm for a role in a future Guardians sequel. “I hope [audiences] enjoy [Happy Birthday]. I know I did! It made me want to do more movies for sure, I would do anything to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 – are you listening James Gunn?”
Vol. 2 will already include a musical cameo from Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence, so it's not hard to imagine a future appearance from Tyler - especially when music is such an important factor in this iteration of the Guardians. That said, a third Guardians film has not yet been greenlit, and James Gunn himself has said he's unsure if he would return for one.
In other related news, Sean Gunn, who plays Ravager Kraglin in both films, provided Point Of Geek with a little bit of information regarding where we find the first mate in the sequel. "Basically, Kraglin is still sort of smarting a little bit, from the fact that Quill sort of betrayed us at the end of the movie. Didn’t give us that money. And Yondu, rather than wanting to go right after him and kill him, has kind of seemed to let it go. And I don’t think that really sits right with Kraglin. And what happens from there is explored a little bit [in Vol. 2]."
