Filming on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has only recently begun in earnest, but filmmaker James Gunn is already fielding questions about Guardians of the Galaxy 3 on his official Facebook page. When asked whether he would like to return for a third installment, Gunn replied, "Right now I really am just concerned with doing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I’m not sure what I’m going to do after this… Marvel has talked to me about continuing on. I’m not sure if that’s what I want to do or if that’s not what I want to do. I really just want to make Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 the greatest possible movie that I can, and something that’s as honest and sincere and true as it can possibly be."
Is Gunn playing coy, simply not wanting to discuss the future before the sequel even finishes filming? Or is Gunn seriously contemplating walking away or taking a break from Marvel's surprise-hit franchise? Furthermore, should Gunn decide to move on to something else, would you want to see someone else in the director's chair or do you think it best that Marvel shelve the Guardians until Gunn would return?
