Gwyneth Paltrow Confirms That Her Contract With Marvel Ended After IRON MAN 3

The actress reveals that despite making a brief appearance in The Avengers (which she still hasn't seen), her three picture deal with Marvel Studios ended with Iron Man 3. Is this the end for Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts?

While it was widely assumed that Gwyneth Paltrow was another star who had been signed up for a ridiculous number of Marvel movies, she has now told Empire Online that her contract expired with Iron Man 3! "My deal is over as well," she revealed when asked whether she think Robert Downey Jr. will make a return as the armoured Avenger. "When they signed us, they signed us for three. So that's it for the moment, but you never know." However, wasn't The Avengers her third appearance as Pepper Potts?! It turns out that she actually did that as a favour (although it would obviously be more than a little naive to assume she wasn't paid for the privilege). "The Avengers happened late. It was Robert who said that Pepper has to be in this movie or it's just giant snakes coming out of the sky. We need one grounded beat. And to be totally honest, I haven't seen the movie. It's crazy. My son has seen it, but I haven't. I went out to New Mexico for a day and shot... actually, maybe it was one and a half. Anyway, it was very short."

As for whether or not Paltrow could ultimately be convinced to return as Pepper, she added: "I don't think they're going to make a Pepper Potts movie, so it depends on Iron Man and Robert. I'd be open to more Pepper because I love working with Robert and it's a great franchise. Most of the time I'm a full-time mother so it's nice for me to once in a while go and work on a big hit movie with great actors and then go back to North London and resume playdates and stuff like that! I'm always happy when there's an opportunity to do it." Asked if fans should expect to once again see her suit up - Pepper is seen donning Tony's armour in some of the recently released TV spots and clips - Paltrow said she's open to the idea and revealed that it was a subject initially broached for Iron Man 2. "There was an amazing picture that was done for 2, where Pepper at the end was in a suit, but her helmet was off and all her hair was blowing. It looked awesome, but for whatever reason she didn't get in a suit in 2. I think that's great - now people really want to see her in the suit. Leave somewhere to go."

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Hi guys, first time commenter here!

I hope she comes back, personally I don't get why people don't like her character. Anyway, I have seen the spoilers in another website and something doesn't feel right to me.

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS!!!!

I can live with the Mandarin being a actor, but from skimming trough it I geathered that it ends with Pepper being infected with Extremis, and Tony trowing away the arc reactor. But why? Why have Pepper infected when I don't expect her back till the Avengers 2. This isn't a tv series or comic book, it might be years before we could see that plotline resolved. The more I think about it the more I think the spoilers were fake.

SPOILERS END SPOILERS END SPOILERS END

What do you guys think about this?

The spoilers circulating are true, guys, avoid them at all costs... Its a shame people feel this pressing need to spoil the film for those who don't want it spoiled.

@DarthJericho, he did...but then it seems his injury on IM3 made him reconsider. Of course, after the dust settles from the IM3 press tour and premieres, we'll have to see how he feels.

Marvels biggest mistake would be trying to replace RDJ and Paltrow because the general audience loves them. Alot of people go to these movies because they like RDJ now

@Godzillafart

I'll take good anyday of the week.

These films are more like episodes in a long season arch so they aren't go to rank with the Spidermans or the Dark Knights of the genre.

We just finished Season 1 and now Season 2 is off with a bang.

Darth: Same here. It's possible, but right now I don't believe (all of) them.

Possible spoilers, btw.

In the childrens book the Manderin goes to assassinate the president in the Iron Patriot armor. That might work better, seeing how he would actually be the main bad. And he survives as well, which could lead into a future villain team like the Masters of Evil.

Possible spoilers end.

I don't understand why ppl think RDJ should leave after Iron man 3 or Avengers 2??? He is perfect for the role! No one else could play it like him.

Darth: That reminds me, I can undersand the Lego sets from The Avengers being different from the movie because of concept art but if he isn't even a real villain, why would he fight Iron Man in a Lego set? Somone had to design the minifigure featured in that set, and I can only assume it's based on concept art, but if he was never supposed to fight him at all, why would you make that up?

How do you not watch a movie that you go to the primere of? I've always thought it was BS when actors say that. I think it's their way of avoiding questions about there performance.

Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan were all part of Iron man/Tony Stark's supporting cast from the 60s to the 70s. They cleaned house (Potts and Hogan married and left the Iron man books) and openned the book to new supporting cast and direction for the IM books (James Rhodes was introduced and other people) moving into the 80s.
Because of the movie, Potts and Hogan returned to the IM books (Hogan passed away).
Sooo, I don't see why this would happen in IM's movie universe.

Same thing happened in the Captain America books going into the 80s, Sharon Carter and the Falcon were dropped from the book, ...cleaned house and a new direction (Later to be returned to the book in the 90s and 00). If you look back, you'll notice that the 80s was like that for a lot of Marvel long running books and characters.
