2000 AD Calling On Fans For DREDD TV Series On Netflix

2000 AD Calling On Fans For DREDD TV Series On Netflix

The fan movement to get Dredd a sequel may have run cold but 2000 AD is now calling on fans to get the attention of HBO, Amazon and Netflix for a TV sequel to the 2012 film starring Karl Urban and Olivia Thrilby. Would you tune in to a TV series continuation of the 2012 film?

The fan movement for more live-action Dredd is being reborn as "Bring Back Dredd".  The 2012 live-action Dredd film from director Pete Travis (Vantage Point) and written by Alex Garland (Ex Machina) was praised by critics and fans alike but earned $45 M USD at the global box office from a budget of $41 M USD.  This time, the call is going out for fans to grab the attention of streaming platforms like Hulu, Amazon or Netflix (along with HBO) in hopes that a sequel to the film can come in the form of a TV series.  The petition is already at 136,000 signatures.  Click the link to add your name to the list.

Instead calling on fans to sign a petition, would 2000 AD be better off going the kickstarter route and asking for donations? A character as popular as Judge Dredd should be able to drum up a couple million dollars from fans around the world. That's not enough for a feature film but perhaps it's enough for a digital series in the vein of Mortal Kombat: Legacy or Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist.

A 10 episode series directed by Verhoeven would be amazing.

Why would people be calling for this series? The new Dredd movie was absolutely terrible. It was one of the worst, most hollow movies I've seen in a long time.

I liked the Urban Dredd movie. It was cool and visually cool too. I like the old Sly Dredd movie too but the newer one was way better. Ill take more Dredd please.

I've never donated to a kick starter or any kind crowd funding project, but I would donate some money to help them get a show or new movie off the ground.

I'm glad we've become reasonable about another movie and now are just asking for a show. I think that's a solid idea, and would definitely give it a chance.

I would rather a sequel but a tv series sounds good especially if it's on Netflix. I don't really watch those original Netflix programs because they don't interest me no matter how popular they are with the exceptions of Daredevil & Jessica Jones as I'm a Marvel lover. Sure Dredd isn't Marvel but it's still sort of a superhero type thing. If it's on HBO I assume it'll be on Sky Atlantis in the UK and I sure hope it doesn't have any uncomfortable male Homoerotism. Don't take that the wrong way I don't hate gay men but I don't want to see them at it if you know what I mean. Why am I bringing this up? Because of Game of Thrones which I tried to watch because I sorta like that fantasy stuff like in Lord of the Rings and How To Train Your Dragon but it was a bit too intense for me.

One of my absolute favorites that I can always watch. Despite what others might think, it holds up remarkably well to this day. Clarence Boddicker has to be one of the best cinematic villains in the last 50 years.

@tb86 Just look away during those scene's. I mean, I imagine there are a few gay men/women probably are uncomfortable with heterosexual sex scene's as well.

It's fine to feel the way you do. Nothing wrong with it. But what's crappy is expecting something to change just because you don't like it. Works both way, so its especially relevant to SJW's who get offended by everything.
