It Sounds Like That DREDD Series On Netflix Is Now One Step Closer To Becoming A Reality

Fans have been petitioning for it and Karl Urban has made his desire to make it a reality clear on a number of occasions, and the Star Trek Beyond actor has now confirmed that talks are finally taking place...

Released in 2012, DREDD was an excellent comic book movie which for some reason failed to find an audience. However, like Firefly and Veronica Mars before it, fans have really got behind the Judge Dredd adaptation in the hope of making a sequel a reality. We've been teased with that possibility a number of times over the years, but nothing has ever happened, and it really does seem as if the franchise is dead. Or is it? Talking during his panel Saturday afternoon at Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo, star Karl Urban revealed that "conversations are happening" about a DREDD series at either Netflix or Amazon, a sign perhaps that all that fan support has finally begun to pay off.

That's great news on the surface, but if we're being realistic, those talks may not amount to much more than one person asking those online streaming services if they want to make a DREDD series, and them giving a "No" in response! We're just going to have to wait and see, but when you take into account what has been done with the likes of Daredevil, it's easy to imagine Judge Dredd being able to live on on the small screen (the budget for the movie wasn't exactly huge, and great things are being done on TV now). Would you watch a DREDD series or have you moved on? Let us know your thoughts below.

Put it on Amazon. There's no need for Dredd on Netflix when we're getting the Punisher.

@SnapperCarr - Maybe some of us want both... I know it sounds crazy, but some people are able to enjoy different things from different companies in the same channel.

@SnapperCarr - Amazon blows. I have Prime anyway, and I really try to use their video service, but its slow and their menu stinks. That, and their selection isn't the best

@SnapperCarr - Why wouldn't you want all the good stuff in the same streaming service? Why spend money with two when you could just pay for one?

I thought Sylvester Stallone plays Dredd in the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
I'm sure there was an article stating that.

I actually met him there on Saturday. He told while he was signing my dredd Steelbook that he hopes to make it sooner rather than later.

I've always said: Dredd can find new life on a streaming service like Amazon or Netflix.

It could work well as a show.

Hope this happens. Dredd does have a mythology that's deeper than some people give it credit for. It would work well in a serialized format
