10 DC Comics Characters Most Likely To Make A Surprise Appearance In JUSTICE LEAGUE
We already know that the likes of Commissioner Gordon and Mera will show up in Justice League, but which other fan-favourite characters are going to join them? Here are the ten best possibilities.
With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice right around the corner, Justice League now feels like it's closer than ever before. That movie will after all introduce us to the likes of Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash, while production on the superhero team-up is set to begin almost immediately after the press tour for Zack Snyder's historic release wraps up.
As of right now, Mera (Amber Heard) is rumoured to appear and Commissioner Gordon (J.K. Simmons) has been confirmed as showing up at some point, but you have to believe that they won't be the only familiar faces who make their presence felt in Justice League next year.
It's still very early days for Justice League and the casting process is nowhere near completed, meaning there's plenty of time for many other heroes and supporting characters to be found and then either play a major or minor role in this long overdue release. Who am I hoping will be among them? Well, click NEXT and you'll be able to find out...
10. Martian Manhunter
Martian Manhunter may currently be making his presence felt on the small screen in Supergirl every week, but he's also a character fans are desperate to see on the big screen. The CBS series has done a great job with the character so far, though the mind boggles at what a filmmaker like Zack Snyder could do with J'onn J'onzz and a massive budget.
If the Justice League will indeed be taking on an alien threat in their movie - whether it's someone like Brainiac or Darkseid - then having someone with knowledge of the situation like Martian Manhunter would help bring both the team and viewers up to speed with what's going on. However, I'd actually like to see him fight them!
9. Black Canary
There have been rumours about Black Canary showing up in Justice League (some fans even believe the small screen version is going to be killed off in order to open the door to her appearing here), and while it's a little hard to figure out how she could factor into this movie, adding another female hero to the team would be no bad thing.
If the League are going to square off with a potentially world ending threat like Darkseid, it makes sense that other cities outside of Metropolis and Gotham are threatened, so a visit to Star City could be on the cards and would be an effective way of introducing her to the team. Plus, a Black Canary with actual superpowers is actually long overdue!
8. Green Lantern
It may have recently been revealed that Green Lantern won't be in Justice League Part One (and is unlikely to even appear in Part Two), but I'm still not convinced that we won't see the character in some form here. Early rumours for the movie pointed to the hero crash landing on Earth at the end of the first movie to warn the League of an incoming threat, and sticking to that would be smart.
Alternatively, Hal Jordan or John Stewart could show up as part of the military backing up the team, but leaving Green Lantern on the bench until his solo - or team-up - outing in 2020 is a massive disservice to the character, especially as he's a founding member of the Justice League!
7. Supergirl
The existence of Supergirl was hinted at in Man of Steel, and forgetting for a second that there was a tie-in comic which revealed that Superman's cousin left her pod behind thousands of years ago (which may back up claims that Amazonians are connected to Kryptonians in some way), Justice League serving as her actual introduction would be much more effective.
If I had to choose how it will happen, it would involve making this sure to be very different take on Kara the leader of Darkseid's Female Furies just like in the Batman/Superman comic book. That could then be used as a way of introducing us to a new form of Kryptonite and brings another great female hero to the big screen.
6. Nightwing
Quite some time ago, it was rumoured that Adam Driver was in talks for the role of Nightwing in Batman v Superman. It's since become apparent that the character won't be in the movie at all, but with Jim Gordon's involvement pointing to a greater focus on the Dark Knight's life on Gotham City, this former sidekick should definitely appear in some capacity.
It could be a moment as simple as Bruce asking Dick to look after his home while he's gone or the young hero actually getting involved with the League for a brief spell. Either way, a Nightwing cameo would be a great way to further develop Batman's world ahead of the Ben Affleck helmed solo outing.
5. Ocean Master
With Mera likely to show up and Chris Terrio recently letting it slip that we'll be paying a visit to Atlantis, it's a safe bet that Justice League will go some way in setting up the events of Aquaman. If that's the case, why not bring in his half-brother Ocean Master?
Hell, considering the fact that Throne of Atlantis has been both a critically acclaimed comic book event AND a successful animated movie, the villain could even be the big bad before Darkseid shows for Part Two! Either way, addressing how the rest of Atlantis feel about Arthur getting involved with what's going on on land through Ocean Master could help play a big role in setting up the hero's status quo moving forward.
4. Steve Trevor
We'll first meet Steve Trevor in the World War I set Wonder Woman, but is it too much to ask that his grandson appear in Justice League a few months later? Whether he's played by Chris Pine or someone else is irrelevant (though the Star Trek actor reprising the role would be pretty cool); the important thing here is what a character like Steve brings to the table.
Him being a government liason of sorts could throw Amanda Waller and A.R.G.U.S. into the mix, something which may very well lead to some sort of Justice League/Suicide Squad team-up down the line! The fact that Steve is just a regular human who doesn't suit up also brings a unique human perspective to proceedings.
3. Green Arrow
As much as I enjoy Arrow (even it still isn't anywhere near season two levels of quality), I'm sadly not talking about Stephen Amell here. Instead, I think it's about time we get a big screen take on Oliver Queen. If Black Canary really is appearing, this makes perfect sense, and Justice League could take the Emerald Archer in a much different direction to his small screen counterpart.
The main goal for me here would be for that long delayed Green Arrow: Super Max movie to become a reality, but the dynamic between Ollie and the team has been so much fun in The New 52 that it would be awesome to see something similar recreated in this movie. Plus, a movie budget = way more trick arrows!
2. Oracle
In The New 52 Universe, it's Cyborg who acts as the Justice League's point of contact and source of information while they're in the field. However, I think it would be much more interesting to put a greater focus on someone like Oracle in that role.
If Jena Malone is indeed playing Batgirl, this one automatically becomes less likely, but putting Barbara in some sort of Watchtower (whether it's the one from the comics or even a newly created base for the team in outer space) would increase the importance of Batman as part of the League and adds another female lead to a movie which looks an awful lot like a sausage fest right now. She too could then return in The Batman.
1. The Flash
Based on the latest information revealed about Batman v Superman by Entertainment Weekly, we're going to see The Flash play around with time travel and alternate realities when he finds a way of reaching out to Bruce Wayne from an apocalyptic future.
Assuming Darkseid is the villain here, that alone should open the door to some sort of exploration of the Multiverse, especially when you throw in the Scarlet Speedster. As a result, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to see the small screen version of Barry Allen show up, even if it's just a very minor cameo. The Flash has been a massive success, so Warner Bros. acknowledging that here could bring a lot of good will their way.
