It's fair to say when death occurs at DC or Marvel, it's nothing to get excited about mostly because they have both killed off characters only to bring them back within a year to a years. It seems like that may be the case yet again. Now personally, I'm enjoying Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok's Justice League story arc "The Darkseid War". Great artwork with Fabok, a story centered around Wonder Woman who has been written really well in this story, plus we got DC's 2 biggest threats at war. Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor with the Justice League in the middle of this war. Justice League #44 feature a major death when considering the story arc.

Justice League #44 is centered around a major fight between Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor going at it. As the battle goes on Darkseid summonds the Black Racer -- who is pretty much Death himself wearing black ski gear -- which he uses to wound the Anti-Monitor. As this fight is going on, Batman uses the powers of the Mobius Chair to visit the Anti-Matter universe. Batman learns that the Anti-Monitor was created when he discovered the Anti-Life Equation, the opposite of the free will that created our universe. This fact becomes known back at the fight, when the Anti-Monitor uses his power to merge the Black Racer with the Flash, creating a new being that he has control over. He commands the Flash-Racer to kill Darkseid as he lays on a blast of Anti-Life energy, taking his enemy down, killing Darkseid. If you don't like to read and are a more visually person, here's what happened.

So yea, in a story called "The Darkseid War" we had Darkseid die. Do I think he's dead for good? Is there a Deadpool version of Gwen Stacy (which there is)? What are your thoughts? Do you think Darkseid is actually dead or shall we begin to make bets on when he will return? Comment below, let me know. Peace and remember...

In all seriousness, this story so far has been [frick]ing epic and I really am not a major fan of Johns's Justice League run so far.

Only stories I liked was Throne To Atlantis & The Amazo Virus but even since Fabok joined the book to draw Amazo Virus, this book has been perfection.

This with Darkseid vs Anti-Monitor and Marvel's Secret War with Dr Doom and Thanos scheming has been [frick]ing nuts, well written, and balls out crazy.

Well in all fairness his new Darkseid and not the real old Darkseid.

I like this Darkseid better with less flair.

I got scared reading the headline cause I was honestly expecting someone like Wonder Woman or Flash to bite the bullet, but eh, I'm not going to cry over Darkseid.

And considering his only previous appearances have been in Origins and briefly in Robin Rises, I'm not that fussed to be honest.

But I like how DC have planned the new 52 Justice League runs so far. Darkseid the big bad who unites the team. Then throw in the Crime Syndicate who are the evil version of the League who lead the Anti Monitor to them, and then bring back both him and Darkseid for one last big rumba. Imagine if this was the structure for the DCEU, it would be brilliant.

I think he'll return, but not any time soon. Maybe in a few years time or something like that.

He's not actually dead. Darkseid is incapable of death. Darkseid is cosmic force above standard characters. One of his many fractured avatars has died. The true Darkseid is still reeling from Final Crisis.

It's gonna be a real shitshow if DC ever tries to bring in the actual Darkseid.

Oh no another pathetic cash-in where a big name dies for the sake of shock value.

WHAT? AND THIS IS A "UNIVERSE" WHERE THEY VALUE STORY OVER CONTINUITY?

My dog getting fixed is more exciting news than this.

What comic would I need to start with to get into this arc? I love how easily I can get into DC stories but I haven't been up to date with comics and what's been going on for maybe the last two years but I'd like to get to read this arc. Thanks a lot :)

He's clearly not dead you [frick]ing morons (not you Levi, you're cool).
This is just a cliffhanger. He's incapable of dying. This just a set-back.

Darkseid and Galactus: Two beings you can never TRULY kill. He'll be back, as ashy and needful of lotion as ever :) I like this new version of the Anti-Monitor MUCH better than the old one.

@Lobo89

He's earning some cash on the side....................in Tahiti............ ;)

You can have it your way....as long as "your way" means a charred burger, shoved up your ass, with a side of Omega Beams.

And, just because.......................

Also didn't darkseid die in the original universe too?
loki668
loki668 - 10/3/2015, 7:23 PM
They have to bring him back. There are more stories to consider!!!!!!

Like that time @SuperCat decided to implement "The Darkseid Protocols" at his place of employment (because they wouldn't let him wear the swastika) It's @Gusto's fault!!

Or that time Darkseid was suffering from Pseudobulbar affect:

Or the infamous "Flea Market Visit" that taught Darkseid about Ebay

Comics wouldn't be comics without the inevitable rebirth.

Having said that. I clicked because it was an @LEVITIKIZ article. Which is funny as shit.

Originally Darkseid was supposed to die at the hands of his son Orion, but that never happened in the original reality, but evidently in some alternate one. I suppose in some fashion The Great Darkness Saga was some sort of story about his return much later.

More recently Batman killed him with a radion bullet, which could kill even gods as it had also killed Orion. Neither of them stayed dead for long and even that was after Darkseid had apparently died along with with all the other New Gods who also had returned.

At this point with all that is going on with Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Lex Luthor, Mr Miracle and Power Ring I would not be surprised if there is a swerve here. I expect the remaining Crime Syndicate members are going to be involved somehow too.

Even if Darkseid is dead here I would at the very least expect some epic return down the road in the not too distant future. I tend to come back again and again to why Pandora created this version of the Earth continuity in the first place as well although it may have nothing to do with this. I also suspect that there is more to Grail's plan here than we have seen so far as well. I wouldn't be surprised if very little of what we've seen is what it seems.

Idk if it's considered jobbing if he lost to Anti-Monitor using a combo attack of ALE + Black Racer (Death) + the Flash.
