SPOILERS: Here's Why Aquaman Doesn't Have His Iconic Trident In JUSTICE LEAGUE

Fans have noticed from day one that Aquaman doesn't have his comic book trident in Justice League and now Jason Momoa has revealed why that is and how the character's solo movie is going to fix that...

When we learned that Justice League would be released immediately after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Wonder Woman, most of us assumed that Warner Bros. would be skipping the origin stories of characters like Aquaman and the Flash. In reality, the studio is introducing the heroes here and then getting them to where they are in the comics in their respective upcoming solo outings.

In the video below, Jason Momoa explains why Aquaman is wielding a five-pronged weapon in Justice League and confirms that Arthur Curry will get his hands on that in his own movie next December.

"I didn't call it a trident," the actor explains. "It's a quindent. We don't call it that in the movie and when you watch Aquaman you're going to see him go for the trident, so everyone's just got to stay tuned for a hot minute." Apparently, this quindent comes courtesy of Mera and it very much sounds like Ocean Master has his trident. "He's not the king yet.He looks to Mera and he goes 'I need to borrow something. I need you to do me a favor' so that's when she gives him the equipment."

That's an interesting twist and one which definitely provides us with an interesting new take on Arthur Curry's story. Thankfully, we're only going to have just over a year to wait until we see the hero truly become Aquaman when he goes to war with his half-brother in Atlantis. What do you guys think?

@MosquitoFarmer - @MosquitoFarmer - great gif choice. When the movie comes out we need @SuperCat to make gif compilations of Brick/Aquaman trident usage.

except he almost always has a quindent... unless they are doing 2 of them like the new 52 I really hope they stick with the one he has. Hopefully they tie it in with Posiedon as the Greek gods are clearly in this.

"Jason did you see people that were like: That's not a trident, it has five points"

"Yeah, but I didn't call it a trident"

Aquaman has had the five-pronged spear on multiple occasions. Didn't think there had to be an actual explanation for it.

I do feel like people were trolling him having a quindent though

Only people that are upset about this are the ones that don't read comics or know nothing of Arthur Curry's history. He's used a 'quindent' many times in the comics.
