When we learned that Justice League would be released immediately after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Wonder Woman, most of us assumed that Warner Bros. would be skipping the origin stories of characters like Aquaman and the Flash. In reality, the studio is introducing the heroes here and then getting them to where they are in the comics in their respective upcoming solo outings.
In the video below, Jason Momoa explains why Aquaman is wielding a five-pronged weapon in Justice League and confirms that Arthur Curry will get his hands on that in his own movie next December.
"I didn't call it a trident," the actor explains. "It's a quindent. We don't call it that in the movie and when you watch Aquaman you're going to see him go for the trident, so everyone's just got to stay tuned for a hot minute." Apparently, this quindent comes courtesy of Mera and it very much sounds like Ocean Master has his trident. "He's not the king yet.He looks to Mera and he goes 'I need to borrow something. I need you to do me a favor' so that's when she gives him the equipment."
That's an interesting twist and one which definitely provides us with an interesting new take on Arthur Curry's story. Thankfully, we're only going to have just over a year to wait until we see the hero truly become Aquaman when he goes to war with his half-brother in Atlantis. What do you guys think?
