Zack Snyder And Geoff Johns Are Working On A Mystery Project

Zack Snyder's work in the DCEU just might continue beyond his work on Justice League as the Dawn of Justice director has revealed that he's working on a secret project with Geoff Johns. UPDATE

Despite a few boisterous detractors, Zack Snyder's unique vision for Superman in Man of Steel  generally mollified wary comic book fans and casual moviegoers alike. Sadly, that same can't be said for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. With the majority of the audience left wanting more from the film, many comic book fans were hoping that Snyder would be given his walking papers after Justice League (if not before). Well, it appears that won't be the case as Snyder told the crowd of bloggers during the JL set visit that he's working on a secret project with Geoff Johns.

JoBlo.com reports:

“Geoff Johns becomes the topic of conversation as Zack shows his admiration for his work and comic-book world knowledge. Zack also mentions an upcoming project that they’ll be working on but wasn’t allowed to discuss further with us.”

Is it another movie in the DC Films slate? That's the most likely answer, though there's also the possibility that Snyder could be working on a comic book or graphic novel.  We shouldn't forget that in addition to his position as co-director of the DCEU with Jon Berg, Geoff is also the Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics.

UPDATE:  According to Slashfilm, Snyder and Johns' mystery project is not a movie. Back in 2015, there were reports that HBO was considering developing a Watchmen TV series so perhaps this is the project?

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

If the project really is for who is in the teaser I'd be happy. Because J'onn is one of the best superheroes and deserves some respect. I also would love to see in live action why Ma'alefa'ak hates J'onn so much.

I doubt that WB would go into the part where Ma'alefa'ak raped J'onn's wife and the Martian counsel lobotomized Ma'alefa'ak as punishment for it. But getting to see him being angry and wondering why he is a freak compared to the other Martians that have telepathic powers and he doesn't would be fun to watch.

Because he got the lobotomy he forgot he could do that in the past and his punishment was the make him different. So what does Ma'alefa'ak do to get back at the other Martians that can use their powers he sets up an event that when they go to use them it ends up killing them. So he is the reason for the Martian holocaust.

You can't find brothers who hate each other as much as J'onn and Ma'alefa'ak. So I hope to see that story play out someday.

@BlackIceJoe - It's certainly not the Justice League without Martian Manhunter.

It's most likely an HBO series! It'll fill in the Game of Thrones gap. Snyder always makes movies that are too long, and this will be the opportunity he needs to actually deliver on his lengthy stories.

Justice League Dark?

@Kr08 - That would be incredible.

@Kr08 - I'm expecting with the rumored JLD animated movie it is to test the waters, see if people like those characters and if they do then JLD will get a live action film.

I personally would have preferred to see Guillermo Del Toro get to make the movie instead. Just because it seemed like he had a lot of heart for making it and seeing as he isn't making Pacific Rim 2 anymore it would have been nice to see him work on this next.

@Kr08 - That would be killer... I've been really hoping for HBO to pick up live action Spawn (pipe dream I know). But this would be my second choice. Hope you're right.

@Binker - If there is going to be a MOS 2, i want JJ abrams to direct it. The comic book community seems to show a deal disdain towards his films.

JJ seems to fit the style of a superman movie, or my personal favorite, A green lantern movie.

@Warnerbroseph - We already had a Superman director with a nostalgia hard for the Donner films, and we saw how that turned out. We don't need another one.

Zack Snyder shows respect to the comic book world?

The guy who felt that Batman & Superman talking in their costumes would be silly?

The guy who thought it would be fun to shoot Jimmy Olsen in the head?

The guy who cast Jesse Eisenberg as Lex?

What?

Here's what they are working on.

Geoff Johns is teaching a screenwriting class and Zack Snyder is a student in the class. That's what they're likely working on.

@LEVITIKUZ -

As someone who loves MOS and the ideas in it, I just cannot believe what we got in BVS.

Snyder talks about the deconstruction of Superheroes but I think it will take a lot to bring back Superman after that fiasco.

@SimplyAz - The thing I hate most is they [frick]ed not only Superman up but his supporting cast.

His entire relationship with Lois is terribly written.
Jimmy's dead.
Lex is just WTF
Zod's dead but became Doomsday and died.
Clark has no friends or support outside of Ma Kent, Lois, & Perry.

It's just such a bad representation of Superman and his world. The only good thing is Brainiac hasn't been used.
