The decision to cast Ezra Miller as The Flash didn't sit well with those hoping Grant Gustin would be getting a call from Zack Snyder, and now the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justcie director has explained why he decided against bringing the small screen version of the Scarlet Speedster to the big screen. "I just don’t think it was a good fit," he admitted in an interview with New York Daily News. "I’m very strict with this universe and I just don’t see a version where...that (tone is) not our world."
That's perfectly understandable, especially as it would be so difficult to merge the two different worlds to create the same type of shared universe Marvel has with properties like The Avengers and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Asked to elaborate on why that keeps these worlds separate, Snyder said: "Even if Grant Gustin is my favorite guy in the world and he’s very good, we made a commitment to the multi-verse (idea), so it’s just not a thing that’s possible." It doesn't sound as if he ever considered casting Gustin!
You can appreciate why the director made this decision, but do those comments about the tone point to a Flash movie which doesn't borrow the lighter tone from the comics in the same way as the TV show? With Seth Grahame-Smith at the helm, we could be in store for a dark and gritty Barry Allen...
