Hey CBMers, this is my first of hopefully many articles on my Top 10 of different categories based off of Comic Book Movies. Today I'm just going to be giving you my opinion on the top 10 comic book movies from 2000-2011, comment and reply, and enjoy.
10) Hellboy (2004)
Hellboy is honestly a kick ass movie, it's revolutionary compared to some of the other choices from this decade. Perfect casting defiantly helps put this on the top 10, and it's just an enjoyable movie to watch. Guillermo del Toro does an amazing job directing and writing, if you have netflix instant streaming defiantly check this one out.
9) Spider-Man (2002)
An instant classic to say the least, Spider-Man truly set the tone for all superhero movies. Although it does miss to include some things, Spider-Man is great. Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, and Williem Dafoe all do an amazing job in making this fan favorite comic book come to life. This set the infamous Spider-Man franchise up, and is a a fun ride from beginning to end.
8) Watchmen (2009)
3 Hours? I know! But our future Superman director Zack Snyder does an amazing job of bringing one of the most notorious graphic novels, the Watchmen, to the big screen. Action packed, interesting, and adventurous, this film has it all
7) Iron Man (2008)
Finally, what the world was waiting for, Iron Man! Jon Favreau delivered what we wanted, and in 2008 Marvel started it all with the beginning to a long legacy. Iron Man depicted the beginning of our more modern superhero perfectly, while Robert Downey Jr. defined Tony Stark as a character. It's only weakness was a boring villain, who was exactly like him! But still Iron Man delivered, giving us the 2012 movie The Avengers.
6) X-Men (2000)
X-Men started off the 21st century with a bang, delivering superheroes that we've never seen. Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Magneto, Professor X, Sabertooth, us CBMers fell in love. The start to four more movies, including two spin offs including X-Men Origins: Wolverine and this summers blockbuster X-Men: First Class! X-Men started it all, and easily deserves its place at Number 6
5) Iron Man 2 (2010)
The most recent CBM on my list, Iron Man 2 toppled the first movie by delivering us more action, Mickey Rourke as a villain, War Machine, and a huge leap into the much anticipated 2012 movie The Avengers. Don't forget to include Scarlett Johansen kicking some as Black Widow. Iron Man 2 was great, and with John Favreau leaving the Iron Man franchise for the third movie, Iron Man 2 may wind up being the greatest Iron Man movie
4) X-Men 2 (2003)
The sequel to the successful 2000 film, this second film was even better. More Wolverine, more mutants, more action! This film brought together an even more interesting plot that was a huge game changer in the super hero films. Otherwise known as X2, it was the milestone film that allowed X-Men to grow into the franchise it has become now. With an amazing cast featuring Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, Rebecca Romaijn and even the True Blood actress Ana Paquin, X2 was one of a kind
3) Batman Begins (2005)
My favorite super hero movie, Batman Begins brought our favorite hero, Batman, to the bring screen like never before. Bolder, darker, violent, and creative, director Christopher Nolan truly made Batman a household name. Giving a spectacular view on how Bruce Wayne became Batman, Christian Bale stardom rose to the top, and we truly were able to watch a spectacular super hero movie, unlike anything the world has ever seen. A must see movie that includes a cast of Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Michael Caine, and Katie Holmes, I highly recommended to all CBMers who enjoy amazing, action-packed films
2) Spider-Man 2 (2004)
A follow up to the 2002 blockbuster, Spider-Man 2 shattered the competition. A compelling story, a rising Harry Osborn, Doctor Octopus and a challenged Peter Parker truly gave us the Spider-Man we all hoped for. Setting the standards for every movie that followed, it's fair to say that no Spider-Man film can ever compare to this one, and as The Amazing Spider-Man shows us a rebooted version of our favorite web-slinger in 2012, we can only wait and see if it can be a Spider-Man 2
1) The Dark Knight (2008)
Come on, you can't mention super hero movies without thinking of the 7th highest grossing movie of all time The Dark Knight. Here we see Batman take on the unforgettable, ruthless Joker excellently played by Heath Ledger. Nominated for 8 oscars, winning 2, including Best Supporting Actor won by Heath Ledger, Christopher Nolan gave us a 2 and a half hour epic that was worth every second. Defining all super hero movies, this film is great in every way. This amazing movie holds the tittle as the Greatest Comic Book Movie of the 21st century, and maybe even of all time.
