Kye, a 7-year-old boy from Arlington, Texas, usually spends his days fighting against leukemia. Last weekend, the Arlington Police and Fire Departments and A Wish With Wings helped Kye spend the day fighting crime instead.

Arlington came together and channeled its inner Gotham City to make Kye’s day great. With the boy in the lead as Batman, scenarios were set up around the city for Kye to bust in and save the day. He stopped the elusive Joker mid-bank robbery, disarmed the Riddler’s car bomb, and foiled a purse snatcher.

At the end of the day, Kye received the key to the city for his bravery. Not only did he live out every kid’s superhero dream, he did it side by side with the everyday superheroes of his town.

It's nice when we don't argue about Catwoman's outfit or who'll be the villain in whatever and we just appreciate how sweet this is.

As if I wasn't choking up enough throughout this entire story, I lost it when Kye had the character and class to say "both" when asked about the best department. Made me think about all the petty 'which comic company is best' arguments we ALL get into at some point on this site and in our fanboy lives... Here's a kid who's fighting for his life every day and knows what's REALLY important in the scheme of things. When I was his age, I took a lot of things for granted, and I guess I still do.

In light of what may be the best comic book movie year EVER, this SHOULD go on the main page a few times throughout the year. This clip reminded me of the hope and inspiration comic book heroes inspire for EVERYBODY, and why I fell in love with them in the first place when I was seven.

Good lookin out to A Wish With Wings, the Arlington Fire AND Police Departments for spreading the love, and kudos to darkgod for posting! Best Wishes, Kye!!

I'll admit I did a double-take when I saw the kid's name (same as mine,) and I was a huge Batfan as a kid. (Still am.) So seeing what was once a fantasy of mine come true for a kid that sweet puts a big smile on my face. If I lived anywhere near Arlington, I definitely would have pitched in for this. Kudos to all involved, and I'll be praying for my little name-buddy to make a full recovery. We need more stories like this to counter the cynicism, I think. :)
