During a conference at CinemaCon, Jordan was questioned about the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Asked about how it feels to be playing a superhero, "It feels good. We haven't started filming yet but just the idea of it, you know? Like as a kid growing up, always reading comic books, wanting to kinda indulge in that world of Marvel. It's kinda cool to see it come true so I'm excited about filming." Talking about the costumes in the film, "Yeah we've been working the fittings out, the costumes and stuff like that... You guys are in for a treat. It's pretty, pretty special. Josh has been taking his time on it and doing something special." Jordan was long rumored to have auditioned for the role early last year. Talking about the process, "Ah I can't even get into stuff like that, but I was smooth, I was smooth..." Turning his attention to Star Wars, "I auditioned for it, man, it's one of those things where, you know, you go into the audition room and when you walk out you just kinda leave it, leave it all behind. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, you know it doesn't." Asked specifically about what role he auditioned for, "You know I can't! Come on, come on..."

He said "that was smooth." Gotta correct you because you know some bloodthirsty superdork is ready to jump on this quote like literally every other quote so far on this production, just to paint these guys as devils.

He's not a bad actor at all, but it'll take some convincing for hit to sell me as Johnny. He'll be good in SW though

he may be a good actor but i think he is the wrong choice for the role, mainly cause of his race.

the whole cast of this movie sucks,i want my comic book movies to be as close to the source material as possible, jordan's casting is like we need the token black guy in the movie so the director asked one of his mates.

if you see me as a racist for wanting a white human torch then i give up with you lot, you're not worth my time.

I never understood the hate for the casting. I seriously doubt that it will have any hindrance on Sue and Johnny's relationship, and his race has never affected his core character, so I don't get the whole deal. He's a great actor, and I think can pull off the cocky Johnny we all know and love, skin color notwithstanding.

Good guy, good actor...he was good in Chronicle and great in Fruitvale Station.

Heard he's also up for the Tupac film role as well and that could possibly be releasing in 2015 too. Seeing that the Fantastic Four film will be filming around the same time I guess someone else will get it which I'm totally cool with. Gotta respect the guy and his ambitions towards doing the best with what he's been given.

It's not about the "blood relationship" between the two it's about the "compassionate bond between" the two. You've got blood brothers and sisters out here who'll treat each other like strangers in the streets so honestly his skin time won't make or break the film the way I see it. It's all about the performance and this guy has the charisma and charm of Torch without a doubt.

Agreed. I don't see the hate behind this casting. He's a great actor. And if you've seen him in interviews and such, you'd know he was almost born to play The Human Torch. He seems to have that cocky/hot-shot attitude down.

I don't even care anymore. The movie will suck. The cast will suck and because it is a comic property it will most likely generate enough money to get a shitty sequel.

This guy and Jamie Bell are the 2 I'm most excited to see on film. I want to see how those 2 handle their respective roles, specifically as they aren't the typical cast.
BatmanHeisenberg
BatmanHeisenberg - 3/29/2014, 9:09 PM
It could be said that is the case, Carl. They want to expand their demographic a bit. He is a good actor though. But what difference does it make if he is black? Sue and Johnny can still be blood related. There are lots of brothers and sisters with different skin tone. All that needs to be said is they are blood brother and sister. One of the parents can be black, the other white. I don't see how this is such a [frick]ing big deal.

Fantastic Four is going to be the best comic film fox puts out. I am going to call it. The casting is incredibly bold. The director is truly inspired. This film will kick ass.

Everyone knocking it needs to check themselves. If you don't like the actors or director based on what you've seen of their work then that's fine with me. But if you're hating because you think it's either a rehash of chronicle or the actors aren't similar to the comic looks. Then that's pretty weak and a terrible way to go into the film.

Talent across the board.

Oh pls.... its still n Big no! i m not being racist or any thing... but its not only him...
the whole [frick]ing Cast is A big Joke !!

Wallymelon

If you think marvel wouldn't have gone the ultimate route then you guys are insane... The MCU is a collage of everything. They would have made them young so they can stretch the franchise out even longer. If marvel had them they would use the FF as a huge branch through tthe universe and hiring older actors would require recasting earlier than expected.

Then again I have no idea.

I like both ultimate and 616 versions. I like making them younger and seeing them really grow together.

Having a black kid in the family doesn't mean it isn't a family. He's either adopted or they're biracial. Being adopted adds more drama and story opportunities. Being biracial can do the same.

Changing the color of ones skin doesn't change the character. As long as he acts like a hot shot and cocky and flames up that doesn't change the character.

Character is inside not out.

^ignorant prick. I love when people say "I'm not racist cuz I'm asian, I'm not racist cuz I'm black, or I'm not racist cuz I'm Mexican" lol it's funny you have to justify it before you say something racist.

FLAMEWAR-ON!!!

This argument has passed the point of amusement. The film is getting made. Deal with it. If it fails, you can crow to your friends that it was because they made the Torch black. I'm sure that will make some of you very happy.

Darktower: Your comment defeated your argument. That's pretty hard to do. Congrats.
