Producer Neal Moritz wants comedian turned actor Jamie Foxx to play the lead in his Luke Cage film, based on the Hero for Hire/Power Man/Cage comics from Marvel.

Moritz told About.com: "I talked to him about it, yeah. I don't know if it'll happen but I know he's wanting to do it." Moritz said Foxx, who won Best Actor this year for his portrayal of Ray Charles in Ray, reads Luke Cage comics.

Moritz also told the Web site that since Luke Cage is a lesser known Marvel property the film would be sold as a character film.

John Singleton is set to direct for Columbia Pictures.
