Summer Glau and Morena Baccarin (pictured below) recently talked about reading for the third X-Men movie while promoting their new film with Joss Whedon: Serenity based on the short-lived Fox sci fi series Firefly.

Here's what IESB's reporter had to say about the interviews:

"Both girls did tell us that they have not yet seen the final version of the film but what they have seen has left them breathless. Summer lets us in on her experience when she auditioned for the role of Kitty Pryde in X-Men 3. She says that she called Joss right after her audition and mentioned the script/lines she read, according to Summer Joss recognized the dialogue because it was right out of the Astonishing X-Men comic books. Summer also hopes to reprise her role in USA Network's The 4400 where she plays a returnee with a slight problem of Schizophrenia.

"To our surprise Morena let us in a little secret, she also auditioned for a role on X-Men 3. She couldn't easily recall the name of the character but the role was of a female gang member. What about her hopes of playing Wonder Woman? She would love to do it but there has been no official talks about it. She jokingly reminds me that I started that rumor at comic con. But as I reminded her it was Joss himself that fueled the rumors during Wizard World L.A. when he teased the fans on where he would find an olive skinned beauty to play the heroine and look at her way and smiled."

James Marsden (Scott Summers/Cyclops) was on the publicity tour guest list but didn’t show.

Meanwhile, principal photography for X-Men 3 is to start this week.

Filming began at Hatley Castle and Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC, according to X-Men Films. The production company took an office at the center of the GrandPacific Hotel. There's rumors that Halle Berry was seen in town.
