CW Signs Deal with 4Kids; what about The Batman?

The CW cable channel in the US has signed a 5 year agreement with 4Kids Entertainment, signing over the 5 hour Saturday morning slot to them, ending their partnership with Kids WB. But what does this mean for The Batman and The Legion of Superheroes?

Kids WB have provided the 5 hour morning slot on the CW since their birth back in 2006, after UPN and The WB came together. The new deal with 4Kids Entertainment, the parent company behind the million dollar franchises of Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh!

So the big question for us at Comic Book Movie was, “What about The Batman and Legion of Superheroes?” The pair of shows were made by Kids WB and featured their first run episodes on the Kids WB Saturday morning line up.

I spoke with Paul McGuire – the Senior Vice President of Communications at the CW - a little while ago and posed this question to him;

Me: Was there any news as to whether The Batman and the Legion of Superheroes cartoons would be picked up by the 4Kids Entertainment Network?

Paul McGuire: No news as to the schedule next year, which would basically answer your question... it's going to be a bit down the road… Our schedule this year is intact, but next year is still to be determined... so I would say it'll probably be a 2 or 3 months before we know.

So there you have it, straight from the horses (sorry Paul) mouth. I’ll be marking this in my calendar, and following it up with Paul in two months, to see if there is any movement. So stay tuned to Comic Book Movie for the latest!
