This is a wish list of 5 actors who the Star Wars folk should seriously consider calling....to be Sith Lords, because they would knock it out of the park, with a few honorable mentions.
5) Hiroyuki Sanada
Hiroyuki is a guy with a natural edge, but at the same time unique debonair. He can be really suave for awhile, and then unleash at any moment. He's probably my favorite Asian actor, which is in a sense inevitable since he's in like every American movie that involves asians, lol.
Physically, he excels. And he's no stranger to playing a villain {Rush Hour 3}. He always comes off as a guy with a dark side, even when he's one of the good guys. And he also tends to display a sense of strongly devoted beliefs/philosophies to his roles. Like a man built on principle, that follows the customs and traditions of his people. Those things would fit very very well with portraying a Sith Lord, plus it'd be cool to give an Asian a huge prominent role in a gigantic blockbuster for a change.
4) Idris Elba
Idris Elba is a higly talented actor with a lot of range. He is also no stranger to being a villain (everyone on my list has acted in at least one villain role), he's even rumored to be up for an antagonist role in the upcoming Star Trek 3 which I think is a great idea.
Idris has ALL of what it takes to be on the dark side of the force. The physicality, the extremity, I'd want to see him do this BAD. It's just too badass not to want. I get excited just envisioning him in Star Wars sith attire. Or umm....
Lol just kidding. Anyway, he's an actor that always has the screen presence to carry every scene, and the range to completely sell to the audience his character. He fully transformed himself into Nelson Mandela, picture him as a Sith Lord!
3) Benedict Cumberbatch
Cumberbatch of course to alot of you seems like the blatantly obvious choice. And well....it is. Cumberbatch is practically fancast for EVERYTHING. He was fancast for Doctor Strange well before he actually got the role funny enough.
Frankly, the dude is just that good. Why not want him for everything? This is another instance where it'd be perfect and I don't really have to explain much why. My reasoning? It's Benedict [frick]ing Cumberbatch. That's all the reasoning I need. Say what you want about Into Darkness, but I personally believe (and of course I'm not alone on this) he killed it as Khan, and showed how great of an antagonist he can be. Seeing him join the Star Wars universe would be a dream come true. Why can't things like this really happen?
2) Eva Green
Eva green is one of the flat-out most gifted female actresses today. Everything I see her in she OWNS. Genuinely she has a very dark feel to her, not just in the characters she portrays, but the real Eva Green in real life as well. I'm sure she's a great person honestly, but I swear, she LOOKS evil. And it's not really a bad thing because she's still very sexy and good-looking, but it's amazing how malign she seems. She was basically born to be a sith lord.
There's one role specifically from her that led me to want this bad, and I'm sure some of you guessed it from the image above but it's Artemisia in 300: Rise of an Empire. She completely owns every scene she's in, no one in the movie is remotely on her level. Any reason I might've had to dislike 300: Rise of an Empire was outweighed by her performance. It's worth watching based off her alone. If she were to bring even half the fire to the role of a Sith Lord as she did with Artemisia, we would be in for a treat I'm not even sure we deserve lol.
Plus how ambitious would it be to finally make a female a Sith Lord in the movies? Females in general don't get too many lead roles in action moives so each time one does it's a step-up. Who better than Eva Green to give us the first female sith. The picture above, switch the blue lightsaber with a red one and behold...we have our Darth Eva.
Don't feel obligated to thank me later if this ever really happens
1) Tom Hiddleston
And now we arrive at my very favorite choice, Mr. Tom Hiddleston, Loki himself. It was a close race between which I loved more out of Eva and Tom. and in the end I went with Tom because my gut told me this would be the greatest thing to ever happen in the history of the world. Like, forreals forreals. I don't have to mention which role led to this fancasting, we all know it's a certain nuisance of a brother to the mighty Thor. Now let me be clear, I'm not saying all Tom has to do is bring Loki to Star Wars, no. The only attributes he'd have to bring are his richly charismatic screen presence, enigmatic nature, and ruptured soul. Hiddleston does deceptive so well it's remarkable, all the while harboring a rageful fury deep inside. He could be a MASTERMIND sith lord. The way he'd play it the protagonists would never feel like they're winning. His craftiness unparalleled. The sith are usually always several steps ahead of the Jedi too, who better to sell this than Hiddleston.
All 3 of his portrayals of Loki thus far have been very different and all fantastic. In Thor, he is drastically envious, fanatically lustuful of the throne...in Avengers Assemble he's gracefully condescending and annoyingly ambiguous. In The Dark World he is trademark mischievous, and then painfully broken inside of his mother's death, to add to the fire inside him. And in my favorite cliffhanger in the MCU, he fools his brother yet again by impersonating Odin, effectively seizing the throne and ending it with his patented evil smirk that is simply brilliant. Picture that evil smirk with him as a Sith. That alone makes you want it. I just sit back and imagine Hiddleston strutting to the Sith Lord theme, in Sith attire, with the hood like above...and can only HOPE we are lucky enough for this become a reality.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
- Tom Hardy (maybe as Darth Bane? pun fully intended)
- Sebastian Stan
