First Look At Matthew McConaughey On The Set Of THE DARK TOWER As The Man In Black
It's become clear that The Dark Tower movie will take some liberties with the source material, but chances are that Matthew McConaughey's Man in Black is exactly how you've always imagined him...
The Dark Tower isn't going to be a strightforward adaptation of The Gunslinger, something which became evident as soon as Stephen King revealed that the movie picks up somewhere in the middle of the story. Jake Chambers has been cast, but there's currently no sign of Eddie or Susannah, and as of right now, it seems like it will borrow at least some of its story and characters from The Wolves of Calla.
Idris Elba is playing Roland Deschain, and Matthew McConaughey takes on the role of the villainous Man in Black. Those two will be joined by Jackie Earle Haley, Fran Kranz, Kathryn Winnick, and Abby Lee (among others), but a first look at the True Detective star as the villain who has also been known as Randall Flagg, Walter o'Dim, and the Ageless Strange definitely seems to stick closely to the novels.
Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, The Dark Tower is currently set to be released on February 17th, next year.
