Most of the later episodes of Red Dwarf have been a bit hit and miss (and let's be honest, more miss), but the cult sci-fi comedy promises to redeem itself with an eleventh season which will premiere on UK cable channel Dave on September 22.

Check out a poster, teaser, and synopses for the six episodes below; try to ignore the fact that a hologram and an android have visibly aged, and let us know what you think in the usual place.

TWENTICA (Transmission date – 22nd September, 9.00pm) The Dwarfers find themselves in an alternative version of America where modern technology is prohibited, making Rimmer and Kryten illegal. The Dwarfers infiltrate the tech savvy underground and try to bring down the authoritarian regime.

SAMSARA (Transmission date – 29th September, 9.00pm) When the Dwarfers investigate a crashed ship at the bottom of an ocean moon, Lister and Cat become trapped together and Lister’s nightmare begins. Meantime Rimmer and Kryten discover the ship is controlled by a dark force.

GIVE AND TAKE (Transmission date – 6th October, 9.00pm) After an altercation with a deranged droid Lister has his kidneys organ-napped. The only solution is to ask Cat, the most selfish creature in the universe, to give him one of his.

OFFICER RIMMER (Transmission date – 13th October, 9.00pm) After a scandalous piece of good fortune Rimmer saves the life of a bio-printed Captain and is promoted, fulfilling his life-long dream of becoming an Officer. He immediately opens an Officer’s club, which is out of bounds to the lower orders, and uses the bio-printer to fill it with versions of himself.

KRYSIS (Transmission date – 20th October, 9.00pm) Kryten has a mid-life crisis and changes his body cover from Mech grey to Ferrari red. The posse try and show him how much he’s achieved in life by taking him to visit a mechanoid from his old fleet.

CAN OF WORMS (Transmission date – 27th October, 9.00pm) Cat takes time off from being in love with himself to fall head over heels in love with a lady Cat with a big secret.

I really didn't like season 8. I haven't seen any since. Worth watching?

@dezdigi - Season X (The last one on Dave) was an improvement. Better than 7&8 and closer to its roots, but not as good as 6 (although to be fair, season 6 was incredible imho).

Hoping this carries on the trend.

LOL what the hell is this garbage?

@blackandyellow - Not sure if you're trolling or not. Red Dwarf is an amazing Sci-Fi sit-com that's been on air for decades.

If you've not seen it, I recommend starting at the beginning, not with the later seasons.

@PeeJ - I've never even heard of it. That picture looks like something a high school drama club would put together though.

@blackandyellow - It was originally made by the BBC. Now it's made by Dave. It's very tongue in cheek to start with, but I have a suspicion that the budgets are considerably less than they used to be, or at least the behind the scenes crew is different/not of the same standard.

I would catch this show on a blurry PBS channel on Saturday nights before SNL. I was pretty impressed by the combination of silly comedy with pretty high-brow sci-fi concepts. One of my favorite early ones is where the crew wakes up with no memory of the last few days, and slowly try to figure out what transpired. Much better and smarter execution than THE HANGOVER, which came many years later.

Can't wait. In my top 5 shows ever. Been watching since the 80s on YTV Canada. Great satire of serious sci-fi, especially season 3 on. But I love the cheap first two seasons. Some of the most quotable lines are from them.

I want Mystery Science Theater 3000 back!

@Floke - Oh, gods below, you and me BOTH. MST3K is probably my absolutely favorite YV show ever, aside from Star Trek.

MST3K made me laugh so hard I would have tears rolling down my face. My absolute faves were "Fugitive Alien I and II" (he triiiiiiiiied...to kill me with a forklift....ole!"; the Gamera films; "The Day The Earth Froze", "Operation 007", "Manos: The Hands of Fate"; "Mitchell"; "I Accuse My Parents"; and "Outlaw of Gor".

For those who have not seen it: Mystery Science Theater 3000 shows crappy movies, with a guy (Joel or Mike) watching the movie, and two robots along with him, ripping the movies to shreds from the audience. It is some of the funniest television stuff I have EVER seen.

Here's a link to the entire catalogue of their films:

I cannot FREAKING wait!

Red Dwarf is one of my all-time favorite smegging shows.

It's just so brilliantly written, blending science fiction and comedy, and I just love all the characters.

My two faves?

Ace Rimmer. And Duane Dibley.

Just a fan-smegging-tastic show!

Looking forward to more of the lads.
