The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Simon Pegg (Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation) is currently in talks to join the growing cast of Steven Spielberg's highly anticipated film adaptation of the popular Ernest Cline sci-fi novel Ready Player One. He'll portray the mysterious OASIS co-creator Ogden Morrow, better known by his OASIS avatar - the Great and Powerful Og.
Pegg joins an impressive cast that already features Tye Sheridan (X-Men: Apocalypse) as Wade Owen Watts a.k.a. Parzival, Olivia Cooke (Me And Earl And The Dying Girl) as Art3mis, and Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline) as the villainous Nolan Sorrento.
Pegg was most recently seen reprising his role as Benji Dunn in Christopher McQuarrie's Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and also took on leading man duties in the comedies Man Up & Absolutely Anything. He also had a small cameo in the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Pegg's next roles include returning to voice Buck in 20th Century Fox's Ice Age: Collision Course and returning as Scotty in the Justin Lin-directed Star Trek Beyond. He'll also likely rejoin Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, and McQuarrie for Mission: Impossible 6, which is expected to kick off production sooner than later.
So, what do you guys think? Is Pegg the right choice for Og? And who do you want to play James Halliday a.k.a. Anorak? Sound off with your thoughts below!
