New Trailer For Upcoming Sci-Fi Movie THE GIVER

The plot of this one does sound very like Divergent, but the source novel was written more than ten years before that. Add to that a hell of a cast which includes Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep, and we may have something interesting on our hands. See what you think of the latest trailer after the jump.

In a perfect world where there is no conflict, racism or sickness, every member of society has a specific role, and 16 year-old Jonas is selected to be the Receiver of Memory. As Jonas uncovers the truth behind his world's past, he discovers that many years earlier his forefathers gave up humanity in order to have a stable society.

The Giver is directed by Phillip Noyce, based on the 1993 novel of same name by Lois Lowry. The film stars Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Brenton Thwaites and Odeya Rush. It is scheduled to be released in the United States on August 15, 2014.

Who wants to put money on how that was the best parts of the movie strung together to basically tell us the whole plot and the rest is filled with teen "love/confusion" drama. With some shitty plot twist that his dad was a driving force behind the "emotionless living".. I can smell it...

The book is legendary but 21 years too late, its popularity has dwindled. TFIOS will be the highest grossing novel adaptation this year.

The Giver is actually an award winning book for teens thats been out since like the late 80's or 90's. I read it a long time ago but its really good if it reminds me of any movie it reminds me of the film where the kids get sucked into there favorite 50's tv show and little by little the characters change and color is brought into the world. The same with The Giver.

"dad was a driving force behind the "emotionless living" Nah, that's not what happens, at least not in the book.
