December 21st may be the most crowded date on the calendar this year with not just one major release, but six! And the Chris Pratt & Jennifer Lawrence-starrer Passengers just may be the biggest of them all.
Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) helmed the sci-fi adventure, which is about two passengers on a space voyage that are awoken nearly a century ahead of schedule and how they deal with their new predicament. Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange) penned the script, which had spent around seven years in development hell before being revived in 2014.
There's no trailer yet, although there's a pretty good chance it debuts with Antoine Fuqua's The Magnificent Seven later this month. In the meantime, a new teaser poster was spotted at a theater over the weekend and you can check it out below:
Plus, here are the two first look stills in hi-resolution:
On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.
