According to Variety, Robin Wright (The Princess Pride, Unbreakable, House of Cards) is in final talks to join Ryan Gosling and the returning Harrison Ford in the sequel to Ridley Scott's sci-fi masterpiece, Blade Runner.

No details whatsoever have been provided on Wright's role, but apparently the studio had been chasing her for this character for some time.

Sicario director Denis Villeneuve will helm the picture from a script by Hampton Fancher (co-writer of the original) and Michael Green.

Blade Runner 2 is currently scheduled for release on Jan. 12, 2018.

I'm not sure this is really needed, but they are sure starting to amass some talent.

Really excited not just because Harrison Ford is in it, but Ryan Gosling is such a good actor and is pretty picky with his roles, something about this movie must have been special for him to sign on. Oh yeah, the director is brilliant as well!

Robin Wright is a great actress and Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies, still think that it doesn't need a sequel. Ridley Scott isn't directing, right?

@Cooler - If Ridley isn't directing this, it will end up as The Jurassic World.

@TopperHarley -
"If Ridley isn't directing this, it will end up as The Jurassic World."

This is being done by the director of Sicario. This will, in no way, end up like Jurassic World. Jesus, Sicario was one of the realest, bleakest movies of recent memory.

@Mike89 - Oh wow, that's actually a huge confidence booster. I'm not that worried about this movie anymore, thanks for the good news man! Loved Prisoners and Sicario.

@TopperHarley - Man I also wish Ridley directs, but film is in VERY GOOD hands. Villeneuve is a fantastic director!! his movies are amazing and the suspense he injects is unique!

The talent in this film is GRADE [frick]ING A. Gosling, Ford, Wright and to top it off, Villeneuve behind the camera.

Just hope it can capture what made the first so great
