X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Star Tye Sheridan Lands Lead Role In Steven Spielberg's READY PLAYER ONE
Steven Spielberg's upcoming big-screen adaptation of the popular Ernest Cline sci-fi novel Ready Player One has found its 'Parzival' in X-Men: Apocalypse's young 'Cyclops' star, Tye Sheridan!
After a long and expansive search, which reportedly saw thousands of young actors audition from all over the world, director Steven Spielberg has finally settled on a lead for his highly anticipated next project - Ready Player One - and it's someone who is going to become a very familiar face to comic book movie fans in a few short months.
Deadline is reporting that Tye Sheridan (X-Men: Apocalypse) has won the lead role of Wade Owen Watts, who is better known by his OASIS avatar Parzival. He now joins Olivia Cooke (Me And Earl And The Dying Girl), who is playing the female lead Art3mis, and Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline), who is portraying the film's villain Nolan Sorrento.
Even though his career is still relatively young, Sherdian has already built up quite the resume starring in critically acclaimed films such as Terence Malick's The Tree of Life where he appeared alongside Brad Pitt, Jeff Nichols' Mud where he starred alongside Matthew McConaughey, and David Gordon Green's Joe where he featured alongside Nicolas Cage. He most recently starred as the lead in the teen horror comedy Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse and had a small role in Dark Places.
Sheridan will be seen next in Bryan Singer's eagerly awaited X-Men: Apocalypse, starring as a young Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops, the man who eventually grows up to lead the X-Men. He also has a couple indies on his docket, namely Last Days in the Desert, The Yellow Birds, and Grass Stains.

In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade's devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world's digital confines—puzzles that are based on their creator's obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them.
But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade's going to survive, he'll have to win—and confront the real world he's always been so desperate to escape.
Ready Player One logs into the OASIS on March 30, 2018
