The third Star Trek film in Paramount's new timeline is enjoying rather favorable reviews after enduring a sophomore slump of sorts after the critically maligned Star Trek Into Darkness. One thing each reviewer seems to agree upon is that director Justin Lin has returned the series to its TV roots as a narrative concerned with adventure and exploration. In the final trailer below, you certainly see that those elements are readily apparent throughout the film.  As someone who was on the fence, the latest reveal concerning Idris Elba's Krall has made me just curious enough to purchase tickets this weekend.

Star TrekBeyond opens in theaters on July 22.

Us critics loved it! Be wary of spoilers now though as TV spots are getting out of hand with some big revelations.

If you're gonna report this stuff as "NEWS" it would behoove you to leave your opinions out of the descriptions. It's just tacky.

Star Trek is the most boring shit.

J. J. Made it enjoyable.

This looks great.

Next Gen was alright though.

Actually if you knew anything about what you are attempting to talk about. You would know that it is Simon Pegg, who co-wrote the screenplay, that was the one who was actually instrumental in returning the "series to its TV roots as a narrative concerned with adventure and exploration". He did that while writing it loooooong before Justin Lin was ever attached to direct this project. In fact, Lin was a late addition replacing Roberto Orci who was the ORIGINAL director. But hey, I'm just a stupid slack-jawed reader who's not supposed to know any better about things like fact checking and accountability. Let the dissemination of plagiarized regurgitated pseudo-journalism commence!!!

the original cast was getting so old in the other movies... It's really neat to go back a get some more stories out of those original characters from a less geriatric standpoint. These new movies are a lot different than the Trek I grew up on, but times change. They're trying to please old fans and create new ones. A majority of the people spending money on these blockbusters today were born after TNG was off the air...

I still enjoy a great space adventure. On a side note, I'm glad to see Kirk and 007 are still womanizing on the big screen...
