Jedi Master Yoda met his end in 1983's Return of the Jedi, perishing from old age. But according to a new rumour, there's a possibility we might be seeing the character again in Rian Johnson's Episode VIII!
According to Making Star Wars, Yoda's puppeteer and original voice actor, Frank Oz, is headed for UK to visit the sets of Star Wars: Episode VIII at Pinewood Studios. Furthermore, the site details that one of the sets in Pinewood was built to accomodate a puppet scene on Ahch-To. If true, it will be a welcome sight for fans to see the puppeteered Yoda for the first time since Return of the Jedi.
Yoda's voice was included in Rey’s Force vision in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and director J.J. Abrams has said that the Master Jedi almost appeared in the film as well. Oz also recently lent his voice to several Star Wars: Rebels episodes, appearing as a Force vision. And as if those aren’t convincing enough, Episode VIII director Rian Johnson also mentioned the potential of bringing back Yoda in his film during a The Talkhouse Podcast. Johnson even had this reply to bringing Frank Oz’s puppet on set: "You kidding? How could you not?"
Given that Yoda was glimpsed by Luke as a Force ghost during Jedi's final scene, it's safe to assume that Yoda's incorporeal form might return to provide Luke and Rey with some wisdom and guidance. Do you want to see Yoda appear in the next film?
Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
