Is This Proof That 'Boba Fett' Will Appear In ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY?

It's toy speculation time again. This latest rumor has sprung from a Fett-related teaser image of one of the upcoming Rogue One LEGO sets. Take a look and see what you think...

Boba Fett emerged from the original Star Wars trilogy as one of the most well-loved characters in the saga, despite never actually doing a whole lot aside from standing around looking cool, and then dying like a bit of a tool. Because of his enduring popularity, however, we know that Disney and Lucasfilm have plans to revisit the character in future anthology spin-offs - but could we see the fearsome bounty hunter as early as this year?

Below is a teaser pic from The Nuremberg ToyFair in Germany this past weekend, and as you can see the Rogue One image on display is Fett's iconic Slave 1 ship.

Obviously this still isn't confirmation that the ship and/or its pilot will be in the movie, as tie-in merchandise like this is not always representative of what will be featured on screen - but sometimes it is, and there's always a chance this is one of those times.

Plus, it would be a perfect opportunity to reintroduce Fett given the timeline and the fact that the story focuses on some shady dealings and espionage-type shenanigans surrounding the theft of the original Death Star plans. Bounty Hunters can be employed by the good guys too, after all.

What do you guys think? Anything to this or just another random LEGO set that happens to fall under the Rogue One banner? The Gareth Edwards-directed movie will be with us on December 15, 2016.

Damn. I did actually check under Boba Fett and Rogue One but nothing came up so I assumed nobody had covered it. Ah well, treat this as more of a think piece continuation if it makes you feel better:)

@Chekkarma - Slave 1 has gotten many LEGO sets and Star Wars is by far their most successful line so I highly doubt they would deviate from the films too much. Look at the Force Awakens sets and you'll see how accurate they can be. Also IM3 had a major plot twist that they couldn't spoil so cut them some slack.

I could see it. Wasn't it reported that Rogue One would involve bounty hunters. Boba is the first thing that comes to mind when you think bounty hunter in Star Wars (well, either that or Greedo). If not Boba, maybe one of the Bounty Hunters that Vader assembled in Empire could show up

In a galaxy far far away the same characters are involved in every situation no matter how large the galaxy is. Vader always needs to be the principal villain pre Return of the Jedi ending or we have to involve Boba Fett a guy who got killed like a bitch. Sorry I want to see more of the Star Wars universe we shouldn't need to see the same characters over and over again let us see new. Star Trek could still be awesome even if Khan wasn't the villain in every movie, Q the villain in every episode of TNG, or Dukat in every episode of DS9. The universe is larger then very select characters let us see new characters.

@pesmerga44 - You realize you got what you asked for in the prequels toryline right? Between Clone Wars and the three movies, the universe was made much larger. Unfortunately the execution wasn't as good as it could have been. Besides I like the notion that the galaxy got more quiet, 'smaller' if you will, after the Empire took over. It helps you see the effects of their tyranny.

I still love Fett and think the character has lots of potential when the reintroduce him, it's just a shame that the powers that be decided to make a joke of him in ROTJ. I suppose he just didn't factor into the story they had laid out and that's fine, but at least give him a decent send off.

I really how Jar Jar has a major role. What a fascinating and well fleshed out character.

Boba Fett is the coolest looking Star Wars character ever! Yeah he could of been more fleshed out but think about how little screen time he did receive but how popular he bacame.

Maybe it was "rogue" before becoming a "slave"?
Besides, it would make sense that this was made as a prequel specifically to give Bobba Fett a chance to shine like he never could via an origin movie.

Maybe they can give him some shit to do in this movie.
