As Star Wars Celebration moves forward, E.A. Games apparently couldn't resist unveiling a ton of new content for the controversial Star Wars: Battlefront, and fans of the franchise will not be disappointed. Set to release in September is the third downloadable expansion pack, the previously announced Death Star pack. Two new playable heroes that were confirmed to be included in the upcoming expansion are Chewbacca, the Wookie smuggler that fans have been asking for since Battlefront launched in 2015, as well as the Trandoshan bounty hunter Bossk. Those familiar with the now defunct expanded universe may recall that Wookies and Trandoshans were cutthroat enemies, so it only makes sense that a Trandoshan and a Wookie would be pitted against each other in a video game. In addition, the expansion pack will introduce TIE bombers to the game. The expansion will be come free to season pass owners.
At the same panel, E.A. also revealed that the fourth expansion pack in the Battlefront season pass will be titled Rogue One: Scarif and will directly tie-in to the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The expansion will include the characters Jyn Erso and Krennic. Beyond that, very little is known about the expansion at this point, other than it may be released sooner than the previously expected release window of early 2017.
Coming in September, Season Pass holders will receive our third digital expansion pack, STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT: DEATH STAR. More new maps – on ground and in space – new weapons and star cards and two new heroes including one larger-than-life character we know you've been patiently waiting for.
