New ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY Image Introduces The Empire's Equivalent Of R2-D2
The latest Rogue One: A Star Wars Story character reveal gives us our first look at C2-B5, who bears more than a passing resemblance to one of the saga's most well-loved droids, R2-D2. Check it out...
Following the most recent batch of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stills, The Star Wars Show has debuted our first glimpse of C2-B5, AKA emo R2-D2. C2 is an Imperial droid, and the reason he looks so much like Artoo with a black paint-job is because they are both part of the astromech family.
This little fella may not play much of a role in the actual story, but he's definitely a cool looking addition to the movie. Let's hope we also get an evil, jet-black version of C-3PO at some point.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers.
The movie opens in U.S. theaters on December 16, 2016.
