Is TMNT: OUT OF THE SHADOWS' Alan Ritchson Playing SHAZAM?

It's been almost two years since Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson took to his Twitter account to announce that he will be playing Black Adam in the upcoming SHAZAM! film. Since then, very few details have been revealed about the film. It's been confirmed that it will be a part of the DC Film Universe, and that the script for the film is currently being worked on. However, the question on everyone’s mind is: Who will play SHAZAM?

There have been many theories as to why The Rock has yet to announce who will take on the role of Billy Batson's alter ego. One of them being that The Rock will possibly be portraying both Black Adam and SHAZAM throughout the film, so there would be no need for another actor. Although that hasn't stopped fans from making their suggestions known online, and it looks like fan favorite Alan Ritchson (TMNT, Smallville) has decided to respond with some pretty shocking news.

Earlier this afternoon, Ritchson took to his Twitter account to answer a fan's question as to whether or not the actor will be playing SHAZAM alongside Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming DC Film. Ritchson went on to reply, "yup!" It's a straightforward question with a straightforward answer from Ritchson, but could the actor simply be teasing fans? We'll just have to wait and see until Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, or The Rock make an official announcement on the role of SHAZAM.

If it's true, then that's just a boring and predictable choice.

@Tuuralihn - How so? Channing Tatum would have been boring and predictable. He stole the show in Blue Mountain State and could easily be the next Chris Pratt. He and the Rock would could probably make a great film even without Shazam involved.

Loved him as Thad in Blue Mountain State. This would be awesome. He can definitely bring that kid-like energy to a role and has a similar vibe as Chris Pratt.
