COMICS: A Major SPIDER-MAN Villain Returns For 'The Clone Conspiracy'

A well-known and formidable Marvel villain will be making their return to the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man this October in Dan Slott's 'Clone Conspiracy'. Find out who it is after the jump!

Doctor Octopus is back! Or at least, he will be in his full glory when The Amazing Spider-Man #20 hits stands in October. Technically, the villain has been lurking inside the Living Brain since his apparent demise at the end of The Superior Spider-Man. While Ock seemingly learned a lesson in responsibility and heroism upon his death, it can probably be surmised that this is a copy of the villain's brain before he learned all those moral lessons.

It's currently unknown how Doctor Octopus will return, but if the solicitation and event title is anything to go by, you can probably expect some form of cloned body. Check out the solicitation and the cover by Alex Ross below!

"Death is no more, and DOCTOR OCTOPUS HAS RETURNED!!! How is he back? And what does he have to do with The Jackal?"

Not only Marvel, but the "Death is no more, and NNNNNNN HAS RETURNED!!!" thing is precisely the main reason I don't buy regular comics anymore.

@ALostCause - *posts thank you gif*

These are just stories that should be read as standaloneish. You can't consider all of the stories of the last 50 years to be 100% cannon.

@ManMan - also, i pretty much read comics for spectacle. the stories are almost always just barely good, with a few obvious standouts. you just gotta relax and watch the men in tights beat each other up.

it's different than a movie, where you have to devote a few hours to a captive audience. if the plot starts getting bad there your screwed. and i have been screwed many many times.

@ALostCause - Yeah, in that sense I like to compare spectacle/action to comedy. Its just pleasure and entertainment. Not every story has to have incredible depth and character development and philosophical meaning. People should just chill.

I am so confused as to why Slott is still on this comic. Nothing good has come from him.

So he a copy of his mind was kept in the Living Brain, and it just so happened to be before he turned good? K.

Oh boy, this is going to need a lot of explaining...besides I thought they were going to try and bring back Superior Spidey somehow, prolly a clone from the Jackal absorbs that consciousness *shrugs* Just give Cap back the damn Vibranium shield and make Falcon, Falcon again with some cool new tech..JEEZ!
