A few years back, Community star Donald Glover emerged as a fan-favourite choice to take on the role of Spider-Man on the big screen (both the Peter Parker and Miles Morales versions), but it's fair to say that pretty much everyone was surprised when he was added to the cast of Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming. Who he's playing remains a mystery, though he obviously won't be the wall-crawler!
Asked about how his casting came about, Glover explained: "The Internet is a strange box. It was weird to see that full circle. I only did it because I thought it was a cool role. I’m never going to do something just because. I’d rather take a risk, at least right now when I can still do that. It’s just weird. The movie was fun to shoot. I’m glad I got the opportunity. You don’t want it to feel like some sort of affirmative action. This wasn’t that at all. I know the director, he’s doing a really good job and good ideas." It definitely sounds like the actor is going to be more than just a high school teacher then, and many fans have been speculating that he may end up playing someone like The Prowler.
Glover was then asked to weigh in on recent rumours that he's being eyed to take on the role of a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff revolving around Han Solo. "Yep. There are rumors. I mean, I grew up on it. My dad was a big fan. I had all the toys when I was little. I had a Darth Vader with the lightsaber he has. It was cool. It’s a dynasty. It’s like the bible. I love that franchise." Whether or not he'll end up joining that franchise remains to be seen, but he sounds keen!
