Original SPIDER-MAN Tobey Maguire Officially Passes The Torch To Marvel's New 'Spidey' Tom Holland
In a funny Instagram post, Tobey Maguire, star of the original Spider-Man trilogy, has officially passed the torch and given his seal of approval to Tom Holland's take on the beloved wall-crawler.
Over the weekend, Tom Holland finally made his long-awaited debut as Spider-Man in the jaw-dropping Captain America: CIvil War and brought a whole new iteration of Marvel's greatest creation to life for the latest generation of youngsters. However, for many, myself included, on the same weekend fourteen years ago, Tobey Maguire managed to pull off the same feat, providing the definitive take on Spidey for nearly two decades when he starred in Sam Raimi's critically acclaimed Spider-Man trilogy, which despite a relatively disappointing finale, is still widely considered to contain two of the best comic book movies ever, with Spider-Man 2 often said to be one of the top three, if not the, greatest comic book movie ever.
In a funny fan-made video, posted to Maguire's official Instagram account, the former Spidey gives his seal of approval and officially passes the torch to Holland's well-received take on the hero. Check it out below:
“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
